Bitter Heat Audiobook & First Time Flashback

Listened to the first chapter of the Bitter Heat audiobook last night and I am ecstatic! It's so weird listening to the first chapter when I'm elbows deep in book 4. I always think he's unhinged now, but his behavior in the opening hospital scene was far from normal or civilized. I love my narrator and I think she's doing a great job for Roth's voice! She's supposed to finish toward the end of the month. I can't wait to listen to it, which will come in handy since I'm revising Bitter Confessions in December!

I finished up their "first time" flashback in book 4. I spent about 3 days on it. It's 7k words and... it was really interesting. I've referenced their first time many times throughout the last 3 books, but I really had no idea how it went down. I don't ponder anything unless I'm going to actually write it. 

I had no idea if she kept going to dinners with Roth, knowing where it would lead or not. It's kind of a gray area I've shied away from, but with all the talk of Ford Baldwin in book 3, it was high time I dug in and saw for myself what the hell happened. 

I thought this flashback was going to be further down the road, but where I am currently in book 4, we need a breather so I decided to do this flashback. Going from their present to 7 years ago and making them innocent and young takes me a while to switch into that mindset, which is why I fumble around a bit before finding my stride. But once I did, the scene flowed really well and I was internally screaming as Roth made his move and the dialogue... sigh. It still needs tweaking, which I'll do in rewrites, but I'm really happy with it. 

And just so you know, the beginning of book 4 is mostly sex scenes... and based on their relationship at the moment, it will probably take up a significant portion of the book as he makes good on his promise to try out all the stuff she writes about that she hasn't found a partner that's willing to go that far... Anyway, just wanted to give a little update. Now, I have to write a raging Roth scene and then Christmas presents! Hooray!
