Happy New Year! + A look back on YouTube in 2024
Added 2025-01-01 10:39:03 +0000 UTCHope everyone's doing well and celebrating/celebrated safely and I wanna take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your continued support and kind words! I'm planning a lot in 2025, gonna try a few new things with my videos and art and I hope it'll land well with everyone here and elsewhere!
While I've had fun making stuff in 2024, I also noticed that YouTube is going through a weird period right now. I think I'm not the only one when I say I feel like videos are not reaching their audience lately, safe for the most massive uploads out there, and neither creators nor viewers know why. I'm hoping that in 2025 we can remedy that somehow collectively so that more people can create and watch stuff they enjoy, because it's honestly just not as fun watching YouTube when it's trying to serve you the same reheated stuff over and over. I miss the days when you had an extra feed where the videos liked by people you subbed to would pop up, I found so many people I still watch to this day that way and the change from showing videos to all of your subscribers regardless and nowadays it just being based on algorithm malevolence, well, it ain't so grand! Here's to hoping things will change and we'll get less Mr.Beasts and more NakeyJakey-type quality recommendations and rising stars in 2025, I would certainly prefer that!
