Question for adjustable (motorized) desk owners
Added 2024-06-12 13:28:01 +0000 UTCHey everyone! While I'm working on the next video, I wanted to ask you people something I've been considering for a while: Which adjustable desk (motorized) would you recommend/have experience with?
Whenever I work on my tablet (Cintiq), I have to hunch and gamer-neck over it even in the lowest position my chair can go to. Currently I've got the Markus chair and the basic Trotten desk, both from IKEA. They have served me well but having worked in this mode for a good while, I think in order to keep this sustainable for me health-wise, I should look into upgrading one of them. I'm leaning towards the motorized desk, because in addition to elevating my tablet for animating, whenever I edit and do non-drawing work, I would often like to stand while doing it too. On many days I spend 10 or more hours at this table so I wanna take precautions!
My question to you is if you or anyone you know has a good recommendation or something to look out for while shopping for one! If I am not mistaken my current table is 160x80cm (63x31 1/2 inches) so if you've got an adjustable table of similar size that has served you well, let me know (if you want lol)!
Either way, work is being done and I think you will enjoy this next video quite a bit ;)
Have a great week, Cheers!

No problem! I imagine you are using a larger screened tablet for all your animations and drawing. maybe trying a non-screen tablet for more of the basic work, and reserving the detailed work for the screen time could cut some time leaning over? just putting the screenless tablet in the place of your keyboard and using the normal computer screen like you would editing? not sure if it is the best option but if you can't come up with something better might be worth a shot. Either way I hope you find a great solution!

2024-06-27 01:43:06 +0000 UTCThanks for all the info, I've been trying to uphold some of the principles already but the tablet is really the toughest to crack! A lot of people recommend hefty monitor arms but I don't have the space for that with my setup. Either way, thanks a bunch!

2024-06-25 20:22:37 +0000 UTCI wouldn't know what would be best in terms for long term tablet use, other then playing with the tablets position to not make you naturally hunch as much. but for normal office/computer use for long sessions (10+ hours) I have a few I have found useful things. for chairs i recommend something using mesh seating (like this that i personally been using for a over 5 years now https://a.co/d/0hFX0B7b , but can be any along this kind of chair) as the cushion versions tends to get a grove in it after a few years of use, forcing you into one position over time. Personally to help with hunching over and gamer neck, i will lock the chair back rest into its upright position and make sure that my arms either have have a place on the desk to lay flat or the arm rests on the chair are flushed to the desk. then the biggest one is make sure your screen/s are in a position where you are not naturally leaning to look down at them. straight and eye level. that works for standing to as even standing if the screen is still facing upward you will still hunch. For desks, I know my partner has been using this ( https://a.co/d/0cxOeUMn ) motorized desk for a few years and really enjoys it. but I am unaware of its availability other then in the US. I don't think they are too different when it comes to motorized desks. mostly coming down to the size or style you want.

2024-06-25 18:58:03 +0000 UTCI asked my dad - he works in IT support so he's sitting down a lot. he currently uses varidesk but used to use ergodesk, I'm not sure if that's available where you are. on their website it only shows American distributors but there are plenty of places to get one here in Australia so you might have some luck

2024-06-12 20:59:25 +0000 UTCI've used VariDesk (now just Vari) both personally and professionally for about 6 years now. Very happy with durability as I spend about 12 hours a day on average at my desk between work and gaming. It's held up beautifully from pretty heavy daily wear. The model closest to mine: https://www.vari.com/electric-standing-desk-with-comfortedge-60x30/FD-ESDCE6030.html
