Main Project Poll
Added 2022-06-14 00:51:25 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
I'm in every author's favorite place: caught between two projects! Now that Dungeon Devotee is just about ready to fully fall to once-per-month, I have two different options for what I'll write next. Rather than doing what a normal human being would do and carefully weighing my excitement, the marketing appeal, and potential pros and cons of each project, I did what most writers do and started writing both.
So now I have two chapter 1s and I need your help deciding which I'll write.
The first project's working title is A Child of Moon and Sun. It's classic fantasy. It uses a poetic, flowing style that would make it better suited for traditional publishing than self publishing. It has an incredibly broad but hard-to-reach target demographic of all ages, and stars a 14-year-old boy who was raised by the goddesses of the sun and the moon. By it's nature as a trad project, I wouldn't be able to serialize it here. You would have to wait until book 1 was finished, revised, edited, marketed, and released before you could read any more.
The second project's working title (to be changed later) is Void Cultivation. It's a progression fantasy, and would be my first ever full project told in the first person. Its style is much more casual, making it easier/faster to write but with simpler, less beautiful prose. It's a xianxia in space. As a progression fantasy, this would be an indie project. I could serialize it on royalroad or just on patreon, so you all could read it much sooner. The downsides include an arguable drop in overall quality, and while the voracious xianxia readerbase means Void Cultivation is much more of a sure bet, it also has a lower potential ceiling.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on each project, both as concepts and as individual chapters. Most of all, let me know what you want to read. I can't promise I'll end up making the same decision you all do, but after all you've done for me, I wanted to at least give you a chance to make your voice heard.
