News Regarding our Publisher + Updates

Hi everyone!

You may have seen the news that all the staff working at our publisher, Humble Games, were recently let go, leaving their company pretty much without any workers. Naturally a lot of people have come to us concerned about what that means for the game and if it will still release. We were unaware this would happen and were actually in the middle of a milestone submission for the full alpha version of the game. Our producer was midway through playing our game and assembling feedback. It came as a huge shock. We found out this had happened via the news online.

I first want to reassure you that no matter what, this game will happen. Thanks to the funding of people like you, we feel safe.

However, this is a time of uncertainty for a lot of the developers working with Humble Games. There are a lot of things I don't have answers to at this time. The people working at Humble were amazing, and I'm going to miss them extremely. It was a huge blow and I really hope they all land on their feet. I chose Humble as our publisher because they believed in people and indie games. They would discourage me from crunching, treated me with compassion, and everyone who worked there only sang praises about the company.

It does seem that the company will be continuing to operate with new people in charge and that our contract will still be honoured. However, I do not know the new people we will be working with. I have been working with Humble Games since 2021, and we had quite a good amount of trust built with them and their team, which is important to me. Time will tell if the new team will click with ours in the same way. Either way, I will keep you in the loop and be as transparent as I can. It's hard to be fully open when contracts and NDAs are involved, but If I'm able to communicate anything new with you, I will.

In positive news, we did actually wrap up the main rough (meaning the art and cutscenes are not fully polished yet) experience for the game. We still have some improvements we'd like to make, and some optional side quests we'd like to add, but it's an exciting milestone to reach. We will also be flying to Vancouver in around...3 weeks? We will be staying with Daniel, our composer, and recording all the big band instruments for the song, then its on to LA to record the full orchestra! It's extremely exciting and I can't wait to show more clips when we get there.
