Well, OK, we missed it by a couple of weeks if we're going by the Japanese launch date, but at least we remembered! Unlike a certain someone we could name whose name starts with an S and rhymes with "baloney." But that's OK. Even if its father is cold, distant, and incapable of expression affection for its most gifted child, we know the score—and just to bolster our bonafides, we invited the most outspoken of all Vita lovers: Sandeep Rai, who just wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign to complete his comprehensive print retrospective series on the Vita's existence.

I bought into the Vita immediately, and even bought a second model and 2 PS Vita TV's, which were on sale at Best Buy for $15. I always thought the Vita was an amazing way to play PSP and Playstation 1 games, because the screen was so small that it hid the worst jaggies. Obviously, there hasn't been anything new for Vita for a while, but I still feel like I go back to it constantly. The biggest tragedy, of course, being the proprietary memory cards... which still plague me to this day. I have hacked my second Vita and everything worked fine, except for the fact that I never got it to recognize third party memory cards. I hate it.

2022-01-07 18:17:50 +0000 UTCI bought a Vita TV for $30, thinking it was my opportunity to play games I missed out on and get in some PS1 nostalgia while I'm at it. When I got around to playing it a year or two later I discovered 8 gig memory card included no longer worked! I certainly wasn't going to pay the exorbitant prices for other memory cards, so that left me with 1 gig or so of on-board memory. And that worked fine until it kept giving me weird errors when I tried to launch games and I had to delete and redownload them. Then my Final Fantasy IV save file was corrupted. Oh and I learned the Vita TV has connection issues with PS4 controllers after hours of frustration in Klonoa. At this point, hacking the damn thing is the only sensible option.
