Pure Invention author Matt Alt shares the extensive historic research he's done into 20th century Japan's post-war industrial revolution to bring remarkable depth of context to Yokoi's career—so much depth, in fact, that we didn't even manage to reach Yokoi's work in video games this episode! Artist and Japanese pop culture enthusiast Bill Mudron joins myself and Matt to look back at the foundation of Yokoi's work, building to a follow-up episode due soon that actually talks about the video game part of his career.

Kinda miss the days of Sharkey, Kohler, et al; there was always something, or multiple somethings, that had me laughing out loud. Jeremy was talking about some Nintendo history blog that covers the whole history but didn't seem to mention the name or where it was online, another chap talking about a translated article from a book but no sort of sources (same happened with the recent Video Game Foundation show). Few web links would work wonders in the descriptions!
