And now, back to your regularly scheduled podcast.
This week we have a pair of phone interviews, both of which concern recent animated releases with deep video games ties. First up, I talk to the folks at Funimation about their decision to bring over Tatsunoko Pro's surprisingly good Zillion (a tie-in to both a Sega game and a toy gun whose design was used for the Master System Light Phaser) to the U.S. for the first time ever, more than three decades after its original debut. After that, I chat with the executive producer of Netflix's Castlevania, Adi Shankar, about... well, I thought the interview was going to be about the animated adaptation of the show, but he mostly wanted to talk about other gaming-related topics. I tried to steer it back to the cartoon when possible, but in any case this should leave little question about Adi's gaming and Castlevania bonafides.
Next week: More animation, more game connections! β Jeremy
Description: An animated feature double feature! First, Funimation walks us through the decades-overdue English version of Sega tie-in anime Zillion. Then, Netflix's Castlevania creator Adi Shankar talks about indie games and preserving Belmont lore for television.
