Love old handheld RPGs in general. Side note: I'd love to listen to an episode about the Dragon Quest Monster games for GB.

2017-11-06 15:05:15 +0000 UTCWell, this made me feel like a gaming super-hero; I had Final Fantasy Legend as a kid, and I remember beating it multiple times (that and Gargoyle's Quest are maybe my two strongest "sense memory" games). I'd get pickier about weird systems as I got older, but back then, I just sort of rolled with everything. The monster mutation stuff fascinated me, and I can still remember a level late in the game which was a ghost town with only one, at first unbeatable, enemy; when you're just walking around normal, you have to run from every encounter because you can't win any of them. Later on you get a hoverbike and don't have to worry about it as much, but I remember how scary that level of the tower was the first time I stumbled on it.
