Episode 121: King of Fighters/game experiences double feature
Added 2017-10-09 13:04:57 +0000 UTCI've been a little overzealous putting together Retronauts Micros, and I ended up with a backlog of episodes with no room in the schedule to post them. Whoops! Rather than holding onto these for four or five months, I decided to combine two of them into a single double-feature.
Two Micro episodes combine powers to become a full episode! First, Kurt and Rob of Hardcore Gaming 101 join to discuss King of Fighters. Then, Ben and Benj follow up with a home gaming-focused counterpart to our recent arcade memories episode.
You can treat the first segment as a sort of companion to the Gradius episode from Long Island this summer (same cast, same funny car hotel room). And the second segment ties directly to the arcade memories episode. We kind of cover the full Retronauts gamut with this one; the first segment is extremely information-packed but a bit clinical, while the second segment is light on hard data yet full of personal memories. Hopefully the tonal whiplash doesn't cause any issues. — Jeremy
