Early access: Retronauts 118 - SEGA arcade history pt. 3

Well, it looks like we crossed some wires on episode numbering, so uh here's episode 118 to follow up last week's episode 119. Eh heh, heh.

This latest Retronauts East entry sees us once again going over SEGA's arcade output in second gear. We've previously tackled their works up through 1985 in one episode and 1986-87 in a second; this time we take one step forward and explore their arcade releases through the end of the ’80s. (Yeah, 1990 was technically the ’80s. It's a goofy semantic thing with calendar numeration, what can ya do.) We hit a bunch of classics and semi-classics this time around, from the well-known (Altered Beast) to the cult favorite (Galaxy Force II) to the more-deserving-of-fame-than-it's-received (Gain Ground). Some solid stuff this week, and a lively conversation. Plus music from a bunch of the games in question, including some tunes ripped directly from the recent vinyl release of Altered Beast. Enjoy! β€” Jeremy

Comments

Thankful for community comments because listening to the archives from the beginning good okay year and this is the first time I could not find the name in the talk πŸ˜…

Had the same issue. Even rewound it to make sure I didn't miss it. Pretty sure the title was not mentioned.

Did I miss it or do they never say the name of the game they start talking about at 46 minutes?

I must got to this moving museum next time I'm in NY

Museum of Moving Image is secretly one of the most fun museums in New York. It lies in Queens! They have shows dedicated to cool guys like Jim Henson and Chuck Jones, video game retrospectives, plus often screen rad movies like Akira and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Death equals Adder.
