Early access: Retronauts episode 117 - Zork

I'm really proud of how this latest episode turned out! We can pin much of its success on the presence of the one and only Black Dragon: Jeff Green, former editor in chief of Computer Gaming World and Games For Windows magazines. He brings an easygoing familiarity with our topic du jour (Infocom's original Zork trilogy) as well as a comfortable chemistry. I often worry when tackling a topic of Zork's vintage that we won't do the subject matter justice, but this conversation turned out great.

(And I'm pretty sure we'll be doing more of this episode's introductory schtick again in the future. It was fun and amusing!)

Incidentally, the music from this episode all came from Zork. Yeah, I know. Weird. Zork didn't have music, right? Except it did in its Japan-only SEGA Saturn incarnation! And it fits surprisingly well where you hear it dubbed over in a loop, I think.

Anyway, please enjoy this episode. It was a delight to plan, to record, and to edit. I hope you derive the same enjoyment from it I did. — Jeremy

I don't know about a goal, but this session was amazingly fun and turned out really well. It's definitely an idea I want to explore.

What Patreon goal can be "Have Jeremy read text adventure games and the guys have to play it"?

RonLad

whenever Jeff Green comes back to podcast, it's fantastic. One of the greats.

Christopher Hyde

Loved the opening to this episode! Good job guys!

The first zork game I played though was Return to Zork. It came with my cdrom I liked wing commander 2 better. I got stuck until I found the trap door by killing Miller.

I had one of the 90's cd collections. I finished zork 1 planetfall and amfv. No matter how much I tried with uhs (online invisiclues) I always got a dead end in HHGG. Always missing the one item they asked for.

Jessie Cook

That open is Comedy Gold.
