As I sit here posting this, my family is currently at my father's village celebrating the end of the mourning period for his death.

It's been six months since his burial, and since his death, my mother has had to wear all black whenever she went outside in honour of her husband.

I didn't go for the end of mourning ceremony. I think I'm the only person from the family who didn't.

My mother and older sister both tried to make me go. I almost caved. I'm glad I didn't. Because with how... messy my emotions are right now despite not going, I don't think being there would have been good for anybody.

My mother made a joke some time ago that I look most like my father between my brother and I, and I flipped out. I felt so much rage at the idea even though I see the truth of it whenever I look in the mirror.

I don't like the person I am whenever I think of him. That person is a lot like the man he was.

I'm sorry for dumping all of this on you guys.

I guess I just want to let you know that the next chapter might get... weird in tone. I apologize if that turns out to be the case.

Anywho, in preparation for my upcoming attempt to republish this story on Amazon, I've made some changes in the hopes of distancing myself from the previous account they banned for whatever reason.

Consequently, I've changed my web-handle to EliXiR_, and the story title.

Here's the new poster, it was born from a suggestion a patron made months ago.
