MrBeast 1-100 Architecture
Added 2023-09-15 14:00:08 +0000 UTCHello dear Patrons, and thank you SO much for supporting my work. In March, Network Chuck roped me into this massive project to help MrBeast's crew build the button and room lighting control system for their Ages 1 - 100 Fight For $500,000 video.
Enjoy this little behind-the-scenes video that supplements my main YouTube video, and also check out my blog post with even more detail: [100 SBCs, Python Flask, and two NUCs for Mr. Beast

Random presses often means there's a floating ground, capacitance, or inductance causing issues. The best way to diagnose the problem is to put a scope (oscilloscope) between the signal connection and ground, and observe the voltages on the line.

2025-07-09 18:59:30 +0000 UTC(copy pasting my comment on your video here) I'm running into issues with buttons & lights that seem very similar to what you see in the original video at 21:45. How did you manage to diagnose that it was related to capacitance and did you end up resolving the issue or leave it the way it was? My knowledge on this subject is very limited and trying to google or use any LLM to get any answers they always lead me back to debouncing, which I don't think is the issue as I also get random button presses (very similar to what's shown in your video). If anyone sees this and has any info or can direct me to any good information sources for this, you would help me out a ton!

2023-09-15 17:47:59 +0000 UTCInteresting project. Wouldn't a ESP32-PoE version be a bit more efficient than the "potato"? Not that I challenge the architecture... Also, I would switch the relays for MOSFET boards - not only are they silent, but you would be able to do nice effects with the lights - like transition to turn all white and the "reveal" the color :)
