England and the whole of the UK had a bad reputation for football hooliganism, most clubs would have a 'Firm' which was like a small army of violent trouble makers who'd stir up trouble on match day. Wrexham's firm was called 'Wrexham Front Line' and they were one of the more notorious ones with a particularly bad reputation, I myself got attacked by them one Christmas Eve and ended up in hospital having stitches in my nose and a friend of mine was attacked by them and had his jaw broken, this is when I was at art college in Wrexham between 1988-1990. Luckily today though there is an awful lot less violence around football, it still exists but nowhere near to the same degree as it did back in the 80's/90's. It's also been an issue across Europe with the Ultras (their term for a Firm) as they're called, places like Russia and Italy have had very bad reputations also, as have several other countries, but Ultras across Europe can also mean just very passionate fans and isn't always linked with violence.

As they say a red carded player is banned for at least one more game but it can be more depending on the severity of the players actions, Luis Suarez was once banned for 4 months after biting another player, and in the Premier League they're more strict as players are automatically banned for two games after a red card.
