2024-09-24 09:31:30 +0000 UTCthe multi-DM campaign idea is a really fun one, my friends and i started a campaign we call the Chaos Chronicles back in July where the three of us are players and DMs, we went in with no plan as to what we were doing, just the characters, a tavern, and that's it. We improvised the entire plot and worldbuilding as we went and bounced off of each other's ideas. It was a way for us to work on our improv and I can certainly say it's one of my favorite campaigns we've done thus far, we get really into it and mesh really well with each other! I'd definitely say running that style of campaign is really fun and I absolutely recommend it!

2024-09-24 04:43:29 +0000 UTCfunny enough i first got the idea for the horned primate in an anime figure shop. i saw a massive figure of guts vs zodd from berserk and thought- yeah thats the monster im gonna make them fight. i think rajang was definitely another inspiration after that, but i wanted it to be chimeric, rather than full monster ape.

Personally, I don't think anything she said could sway his perspective on things. He doesn't seem like that kind of character to me. I think the things that could have gotten through to him were much less confrontational or direct. A consoling hand on the shoulder, an ear lent to listen to his troubles, a gentle presence to keep him company... I think what he needed was to directly witness what a world ruled by beasts could never give him, and leave him to think about it. I still think this campaign was perfect though. I'm not opposed to angst in the slightest, and TMK had the emotion I need for it to really count. I've never been so inspired and moved by a story before, and it means a lot to me even now

2024-09-23 22:41:01 +0000 UTCIf Milo joined the Riptide pirates as a new crew member then I think there would be a bit of a weird vibe as players with power dynamics. Seeing as Chip, Jay, and Gil are all co-Captains bringing a fourth main character would either make them a crew member or a fourth co captain to keep them equals. Which I don’t think is a good idea. BUT I do think Milo could be a guest star for an episode like with Ranboo, where when things cool off or when there needs to be a filler episode you can bring Milo in. You might even be able to pull off what you did with Yakko in PD where they would be there for a short time but not permanently

The sheer emotion in Jin’s speeches- and especially the screaming- was genuinely peak. And to think he’s going to be dming again soon (?) has me all giddy in my good bits.

2024-09-22 14:16:21 +0000 UTCI'm always on the fence for a while when a podcast i love brings in new personalities, doubly so when the pod always has the same cast. i think it's bc in my experience, the new host(s) don't already have that personal dynamic w/ the other hosts, so it's always obvious that they're a little out-of-the-loop when it comes to the rest of the group's shenanigans this was very much NOT the case w/ milo. she had personal history w/ the rest of the JRWI crew, and that made it VERY easy for her to match everyone else's freak level, and join in on the bits, the back & forth, and the 'yes, and' improv i enjoyed milo's involvement in TMK, and i honestly look forward to her being in more JRWI sessions, whether those are long-form campaigns, short-forms, or just one-offs. she has a very fun style that meshes really well with everyone else's senses of humor, but is also really good at getting into the rp of the more intense parts of session; getting emotional at the emotional parts and getting awed at the awesome parts go milo 💯 (also thanks grizz for hosting another campaign, i remember you said you read all these ❤️)

So each jump into another's brain is then narrated and run by that person as the dm. Itd be a tough ball to roll but I think y'all could probably do something fun like that. Like cyberchase rules lol.

2024-09-22 02:57:28 +0000 UTCForgot to leave a comment on the previous releases cuz I was busy while listening to them, but I just wanted to say that this mini campaign has inspired me so greatly as a dm regarding storytelling, writing, improv, and acting. Grizz, I haven't seen anyone mention this scene but when you were talking to Lucia as her dad and showed her what he said to Mary to get her to leave, it made me so sad but it was genuinely one of my personal favorite moments from you. The voice, the growl, the desperate yelling plea, it made me feel everything lol. The campaign as a whole achieved the same and I loved it so much. Condi, dude, Jin in the last episode was killer. I aspire to be able to put that much passion and meaning in my words when I act for my players. I felt every bit of emotion that Jin was feeling throughout that entire fight, and it was so visceral and furious it made me want to cry. Fantastic job, and like others said, you'd make a killing in voice acting. Beebo, seeing you in a villain role was so so so cool. Your description of Everett's Beast Knight gave me chills, and at almost every point I found myself aligning with Everett whenever he monologued or talked about his beliefs. A truly charismatic and convincing character, played to perfection. Milo, Lucia, to me, was the one to tie both Jin and Everett together. I think it was said in one of the Rolleds, but they both lie at the extremes and she in the middle, acting as an anchor for their conflicting ideals and, at times, personalities. For your first time playing dnd for a podcast, you did an exceptional job and I really wanna see more of you and what you can do! Sorry for the word vomit, but like I said I forgot to leave comments earlier. I loved this campaign and the characters and the world and I only aspire to be able to tell stories as compelling as this. Much love <3.

2024-09-22 01:52:57 +0000 UTCI think it's fun to imagine the different possibilities, and it was never necessary to flesh out every detail of the in between, sorta like how Milo probably didn't have every year of her Lucia's life thought out after the incident. Maybe Mary was found alone by the previous hybrid king, shortly after she was sent away, and then she was raised, given her dream/purpose, and then may she even grieved the loss of that previous king, shredding her last node of humanity to carry on the torch. Maybe she watched Lucia and her village from the shadows for some time, perhaps that's how she learned of the reasons she was sent away, perhaps resentment built, delusions based on assumptions festered. Maybe both! The important part about Mary is that, much like Lucia, she had a strong connection to magic, and thus not only survived monster blight in a unique way as a child, but was the perfect candidate to complete the Moonbeast ritual.

From the sound effects and the music to the acting and story telling- this was truly an incredible experience. After episode three, I already began lamenting how cool it would‘ve been as a longer campaign. But in the end, I was more than happy with what came off it.
