But it also makes me realise how all I do is watch action movies where big man go shooty shoot BOOM BOOOM, and the idea of characters having like personalities and established dynamics makes my brain hurt, but in a good way, it's so exciting

The raw emotion and pain behind grizzly’s voice was unreal, it’s like grizzly wasn’t even there, it was straight up Lizzie talking. I know it’s easy to see the negatives in your own performance especially as a DM but grizzly should really give himself some credit, he’s always incredible as Lizzie, she feels so real and three dimensional but this episode just completely blew me away. The acting this episode in general was amazing, everyone outdid themselves today

But in all seriousness, I don’t think Lizzie was being completely unfair to Jay. I absolutely understand Jay’s pain but Lizzie was in love with Ava. She watched her get shot to death by the people she thought were on her side. She even said that Ava was the one person who made her feel like more than just a Pirate. She made her feel like a person and it hurt her to lose the only person who ever made her feel like that after everything she had been through. Lizzie deals with her emotions by running and getting mad and in that instance I don’t think she understood what to say to Jay beyond “If you wanna be mad at me go ahead but I didn’t kill her and I didn’t know how to tell you.” I also wanna point out that Chip is entirely right not to trust Kira ESPECIALLY after hearing Lizzie’s story. Because remember, Lizzie trusted Ava with Shadow beard’s hide out which led to the massacre and her death. As far as both he and Lizzie know, Ava betrayed Lizzie’s trust. Even with their trust and love it ended with two people Lizzie loved dying. Trusting Kira with that story fresh in his mind especially when she’s directly under the man who gave him and Gillion nightmares and the man who hurt Jay so bad doesn’t make sense. Chip isn’t trusting to begin with and despite having more trust for people now, him trusting Kira absolutely would be out of character. Jay trusting her makes sense given her past, Gillion trusting her makes sense because he trusts Jay’s judgment and has a trusting heart, Chip trusting her wouldn’t make any sense bc we’ve seen him question Jay’s judgment (not maliciously but out of self preservation and probably from when he trusted Price in the past) and he’s not at all trusting of people he just meets. As far as he knows, Kira is navy and has tried to hurt and kill his friends on multiple occasions.

Neither of them were composed enough to consider each other's feelings and neither were willing to give the other the benefit of the doubt. Jay's rage is understandable, her whole mission was to find her sister's killer and to suddenly discover that someone she knew had the answer the whole time would've been infuriating. Especially because she didn't hear it from Lizzie herself, Her father revealed Lizzie's involvement in the midst of a heated battle. No matter what, Jay was going to approach Lizzie with distrust and hostility, and she likely wouldn't take any nuances into account. Lizzie withheld this information out of fear and selfishness, but it also makes sense why she never brought it up. Lizzie and Jay were certainly not friends, not until Allport. It wasn't until they both got drunk in that bar that Lizzie had an opportunity to bring this up to Jay. Admittedly Lizzie made the questionable decision to lie to Jay about knowing she had a sister, although it is somewhat understandable as this was their first time speaking to each other as friends (also they were hammered af so...). They only ever saw each other face to face two more times after that and there was never really an opening for them to discuss anything one on one. Lizzie would've had to tell Jay about Ava over the conch shell (which might not have been ideal) and because Lizzie didn't see Jay at all during that time Lizzie might not have thought about Ava as much. Lizzie probably had a few opportunities to tell Jay but they weren’t very ideal for her. But Jay wouldn’t take that into consideration as I think what really made her upset was feeling that the answer had been seemingly right under her nose for months. Lizzie’s selfishness was the only thing keeping her from the truth. They were both very unfair to each other in that conversation, and what’s painful is that they might’ve had a fair and composed conversation had this been brought up by Lizzie herself. Although, Lizzie didn’t really have ample opportunity to talk to Jay about such personal things. Perhaps Jay could be more in the right, but her unwillingness to actually listen to Lizzie makes me say otherwise. Or perhaps Lizzie could be more in the right, however I think she is only considering her own emotions. In my opinion both of them entered this conversation with terrible mindsets and I think that could’ve been avoided. And it's all thanks to Endeav– I mean Jayson. (btw Jayson’s subtle development has been very enjoyable to watch)

I think that finding out that Price is Ollie’s brother brings would bring out a lot in Chips story. Chips had a lot of development but we still don’t know anything about him. Plus heading back to Allport. I’d just love to see more Chip and Price.

It's really shifting away from seeing Jayson as just a typical evil bad guy. Like he has a wife who he loves and cares for. He misses Ava and is still grieving, he is devastated to see Jay leave and go on such a wild path as his Brother did as well as seeing Jay joining the people that he thinks killed Ava. It's literally so nice to see that this is a very hard moral decision. Like yes he is an asshole when the crew and him get into fights and RAFT is bad. But in his position do you think he really had a choice to do anything other than join the ranks? his mother is the damn Admiral! Maybe he wanted to, maybe he didn't. We don't actually know all too much about him or his past. I'm so frickin excited to see how much we can learn about everyone's past!!!

I’m also SO excited to hear more about Gil when we get the chance to. Sad (potential) chosen one characters are so interesting to me, and the bit about the first time a parent said they loved him was so fucking funny and sad, I can’t wait to hear more about that sad sad fish who appears to be unable to be harmed by anything, it’s great!! I love that we seem to be working towards a larger scope for all of the characters by working through Chip and Jay’s stories directly atm, it feels so natural!! Wonderful storytelling Grizz, I’m waiting with baited breath for the next ep always!

(im just theorizing at this point) its like in steven universe when the diamonds just straight up went " you remind us of our dead family member" and so there isnt a mental change there its just oh this person is just the stand in for who i want to be there.

2023-05-25 04:34:43 +0000 UTCI love how jay and chip's huge story points feel really close because of the collecting of the original pcs and jayson's pursuit of them as compared to how far away gillion's feels. the physical location of things and people in the world has a huge effect on the story in my mind and i totally agree with bizly that it makes the story feel super connected when npcs have backstories that intertwine. i just love how the world has developed into something with history and depth. i'm super excited to go to the black sea!!

I love him so much and I thank the council everyday for creating a story as compelling as their about this world as a whole <3
