2022-10-12 13:15:22 +0000 UTCEarly on Babymetal was a side project of Key Kobayashi (Kobametal) a producer at Amuse, at the time Amuse wasn't going to put a lot of money behind a metal band so with the girls still in the idol group Sakura Gakuin they allowed Koba to do his project, there wasn't a big budget for their first couple videos. With the minimal backing Babymetal didn't have enough money for a live band so they had a backing track for the music and actors in skeleton outfits known as Babybones miming the instruments, with their popularity growing they hired session musicians to do the Encores at live shows and in 2013 they became part of the lore where the Fox God summoned the God's(Kami's) of guitars,bass, and drums from the spirit world to support Babymetal which is why they wear corpse paint and burial robes, the Legend 1997 show to celebrate SU's 16th birthday was the last show before the Kami's became the permanent full time band.
