No spoilers (pure opinion)! But as someone who watched the show all the way through in like three days and stayed off social media, I was shocked by how many people online disliked Izaya and William at the time (so no William was actually not popular lol). Some people were actually being pretty terrible to them while it was airing. I don’t know, to me they just felt very human (not that I never got irritated by some of their convos/actions myself lol). I liked all their conversations, though I can see how some viewers might’ve gotten tired of them if they were hoping to see other people or expected something different from the show. Personally, I liked season 2 better overall than season 1 (even though I love both), but I’ll let you form your own opinion once you finish. Maybe it’s because I treated it more like a comfort show and really loved the friendships built, sort of like how I felt watching Terrace House. I just love the whole cast. I’ll leave it at that for now… but get ready for what feels like season 2 of The Boyfriend season 2 after this :) There is also a Reunion (fan translated) and the S1 and S2 casts reacting to some of the show (unfortunately only machine-translated as of now, curse you Netflix Japan YouTube!!) but they’re so fun. Can’t wait for you to catch up so you can watch them all
