I only watched it now cuz I needed the strength to watch this again agh. I was so angry too. The respect thing... Yeah you gotta respect elders but no one would respect you lol sadly thats what happens in some families. You grow up that way... You can't talk back, you gotta sit-dress properly etc etc. It's like brainwashing saying its culture/tradition. Only some actually choose themselves cuz they have financial freedom etc etc then they are the black sheep of the whole family :/
