Orphan Black Season 1 Episode 9

Comments

Loving these reactions. We are rewatching this this with our mum, who is loving it also ❀️

Wendy McIntyre

I was waiting for this episode. I knew you'd love this episode and it feel it makes up for stress of the last one, right? Lol I don't usually pick favorite episodes, but on this particular rewatch, it might be my favorite of the season (we'll see 😏). The way the episodes are structured series makes this show such a bingeable series, so I understand the urge to just want to just jump to the next episode because all you're left with is some answers, but also even more questions. I was "lucky" to start watching the show after the 1st season had ended just ended and accidentally binged the whole season in one sitting right on my couch smh. Lucky for y'all, you don't have to wait 10 months to a year for the next season lol. And look, baby Kira is somehow PERFECTLY fine πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚. Name Check: Art's Sorta Partner = Det. Angela Deangles/Ange/Angie, Cosima's Lab Partner = Scott, Fake French Student = Dr. Delphine Comier, Black Mom = Amelia, White Mum = Mrs. S/Siobhan Sadler, "Brad" = Paul, Helena's "Keeper" = Tomas, Helena's Religeous Sect = Prolethean, Leekie's Evolutionary Science Movement = Neolution, Blonde-Bob Window-Watcher = πŸ‘€??? You're so right. They ended this episode perfectly and it was a twist that had been hinted at for several episodes now, but never actually got an answer for. I'm sure you've caught on that Helena & Sarah both seem to feel some sort of connection. Remember when Kira was apprehensive about Allison and told her, "You're not my mum", but last episode with Helena, Kira willingly went with her and told her, "You're just like my mum"? Remember when Sarah and Helena were in Maggie Chen's apartment, Helena said she felt a connection between them? Sarah put the gun to Helena's head but instead of shooting, she asked, "What happened to you, Helena"? Well, last episode, when Kira was in the alley with Helena, she asked, "What happened to you, Helena"? This episode, "Mummy, she looks like you. She looks just like mummy". They were dangling it right in front of our faces the whole time, but done so well. Here another fun "twin" moment. In episode 1, Sarah enters Beth's apartment. She goes in the bedroom, looks through the closet at the clothes, bounces on the bed a little, goes in the kitchen, steals a beer, and looks at the picture of Paul on the fridge. Fast forward to episode 7, Helena enters Beth's apartment. She, too, goes in the closet (sniffing clothes lol), bounces on the bed (then tries to straighten it lol), goes in the kitchen, steals food out the fridge, and steal Paul picture for a little, imaginary one on one convo lol. It's such a fun retrospect parallel they did with both of them, showing them doing almost the same exact things in the same settings, but also showing their distinct differences in personalities as they did them. Since we're talking about Helena, I feel this episode gave us an insight of her mind. Despite being a trained assassin who apparently like to pop, lock, & drop it in the club with a freshly severed tail in her hand, she also comes across as very childlike. Although it was hinted before, it's very obvious that Helena has been heavily manipulated and abused throughout her life. Helena normally has this dangerous, horror slasher vibes, complete with her own horror screech theme track, but every now and then, you'll see this akward, curious, sheltered child in her demeanor and voice. The way she eats her food (the jello slurpage with extra sugar is such a kid thing to do), thinking a basic diner was a "nice restaurant". It always hurt to see her not fight back Tomas the way we KNOW she's capable of (we know she has the physical capabilities to take him out instantly) and you can that the reason she doesn't at first was due to the psychologiccal power hold he has over he that she reverts to an scared and angry child. Having Kira showing her innocent kindness and empathy, then Sarah standing in her corner, validating the true connection she feels gave her strength to finally fight back. Question remains: What happens with Helena now? And speaking of Tomas & the Proleatheans, remember in 1x4 when Sarah & Helena were in Magie Chen's apartment? Helena told Sarah that Maggie Chen "helped created" the clones, but then she "saw the light" and started working with Helena and whomever she's aligned with, which we now know are called Proletheans, according to Dr. Leekie. Sarah, after Helena told her, realized that Beth might have actually known who Maggie Chen was and shot her on purpose to protect them. According to Leekie, Maggie Chen infiltrated the Neolution organization their project, then she & Tomas found Helena in a convent. That Maggie Chen was all over the place, wasn't she? Lol... "WHO'S THE DADDY?!" That moment took me out πŸ’€. This show will really have you asking questions that you didn't even realize might actually need to be asked in the first place πŸ€£πŸ˜‚. Let your mind wonder far enough with this show and you'll end up spiriling, sitting around asking yourself some of the most random and wildest questions πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜. So, Leekie seems to know about Helena, the missing baby Amelia ran away with and placed in a convent. He seemed to have been looking for her for a while (he seemed very interested when Delphine said her name) and very aware of her "personality" enough that she couldn't have possibly have been impersonating Beth. Now the question lies, how much does he know about Sarah Manning now that he's aware of her existence? Felix and Allison's relationship dynamic has grown. From Allison almost shooting Felix when they met, to Felix babysitting & playing drag with her kids, now Allison trusting and asking Felix for support and he's giving it to her. He even pushed Sarah to check up on Allison last episode. I love that he seems to be getting invested in the others outside of Sarah. And yes, Allison's hair is a little lighter than Sarah & Cosima's Cosima. Cosima, Cosima, Cosima. I don't know what kinda sex magic that girl thought she had that'd make Delphine suddenly not do what she did, but it didn't work because she did it smh. Or maybe it worked to some extent lol. Delphine didn't mention Kira to Leekie and even made sure Cosima knew that (Tatiana's acting was so good as Cosima when talking leaving Kira out of it). Were those genuine feelings from Delphine or was she just trying and failing to cover herself? Either way, she done goofed and now we're here with two goofy, sad-faced scientists taking Ls lol. I wonder how this whole thing will affect Cosima and being as Cosima started off as the "mediator" between Allison & Sarah clashing personalities when Sarah joined Clone Club, but now Sarah currently distrusting Cosima, and Cosima realizing she failed Sarah, will there be a dynamic shift in the group? So, Delphine has been blindly following Dr. Leekie in the sense she probably never even questioned whatever danger he kept insisting on. That car scene, the way he's guiding her to pursue Cosima romantically for information is so creepy (that "Pillow Talk" song you sang last episode is still in my head lol). Cosima's, "Yeah, it showed", to Delphine, whether she actually likes Cosima romantically or not, I know felt like a gut punch to the ego but I laugh every time lol. All she could do was leave after that (Delphine also earned the fandom nickname "the puppy" because how she looked like a sad, golden retriever when Cosima exposed her lol). I just want to take this moment and say, "Poor Art". Like, imagine that this show was a police procedural drama series about this drama filled homocide team, you have Art, who's hot-mess, mentally unstable, druggie partner he'd been protecting quit on him out of nowhere in the middle of a insane investigation, that only gets more insane, but his very ex partner is somehow intertwined with it all and now known dead for like 2 weeks. If I was him, I'd honestly would never have another partner again πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜... Man, I hope Sarah really realizes how lucky she has been being unknowingly protected practically her whole life until this point, even while still in the womb. Amelia was very brave to run away and hide her babies away. Being in an entirely new continent to make money with no one there with her, only to find out she's somehow mixed up in something she shouldn't, only to go have to go into hiding herself after saving the twins. Again, I'm loving the relationship between Mrs. S & Sarah and I love that the Mrs. S was present with Sarah as she met & spoke with her birth mother. Both of her moms put her first at some put which in turn saved her. women saved Sarah. It's gotta put some heavy retrospective on Sarah regarding her life, especially considering how she kinda turned out. That girl seems to be very lucky indeed. Now, that I'm thinking about it, there's does seem to be a reversal of a parallel between Sarah and Helena. Where Sarah has been unknowingly been protected her whole life, she turned out very destructive and rebellious, whereas Helena, who lived under faux protection, turned out very polite (for a serial killer lol) and loyal (to the wrong person). Coming Up: Will Helena ever get out of the trunk? Will Donnie's chest ever heal up right? Will Mrs. S get to set it off? Maybe πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜„.
