2025-03-31 22:34:34 +0000 UTCSeries of Unfortunate Events is worth talking about imo
Rem Z
2025-03-30 22:53:47 +0000 UTCI imagine the role was originally a bit closer to Alec Guinness in Star Wars or Anthony Hopkins in The Mask of Zorro, and was changed to accommodate more physical action when they cast an actor who could pull it off.
Douglas Wykstra
2025-03-21 17:42:19 +0000 UTCI can’t stop thinking about Connery playing Morpheus, being pulled around by the strings, soaring through the air doing crane arms in the training sequence.
Zachary Neeley
2025-03-21 15:53:17 +0000 UTCBen and Robert Webb have always reminded me of each other! Jes in Peep Show is super Ben-coded
Mariana Sedillo
2025-03-21 06:28:46 +0000 UTCFirst if all... How much for the patreon tier where we get to play roller hockey with Griffin? Secondly it's wild to hear you guys talk STORROR. I randomly got suggested their videos a few years ago on my youtube homepage. It's like my nichest of interests are all colliding!
Mike Lau
2025-03-20 21:56:46 +0000 UTCConnery's decision to do LXG after turning down Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, the Matrix, etc. is even more poignant in light of the fact that the source material for LXG is arguably the most respectable of any of those, give or take Tolkien. Alan Moore's comics are basically a way for him to examine the psychology of Victorian England through its most famous literary creations, and he reaches some very interesting and provocative conclusions in the books. It's just rotten luck that the project was picked up by a studio that was slowly fumbling its way toward The Day After Tomorrow, and was headed by a director whose main insight into the material seems to be, "What if I made a movie that looked much worse than Blade but cost a lot more money?"
Douglas Wykstra
2025-03-20 19:40:33 +0000 UTCNice! Probably going to suck.
Douglas Wykstra
2025-03-20 19:18:02 +0000 UTC... pass!
Douglas Wykstra
2025-03-20 19:16:12 +0000 UTCWell, now that the PTA trailer is out, I guess he’s unfortunately going to run the table
Rad Rodge
2025-03-20 14:55:01 +0000 UTCAwful week today and the silliness of this helped a bit #thankcheck
Peter Blenski
2025-03-20 14:04:57 +0000 UTCThese eps are always goofy as fuck and I’m here for it.
Matt
2025-03-20 12:59:51 +0000 UTCWe’re two rounds away from a Coppola vs Coppola , not one. Sofia will need to beat Weir and then either Bong Joon-Ho or Mel Brooks. And FFC will need to knock off Del Toro and then either Orson Wells or Peter Jackson. That’s gonna be a tough road to that matchup this year . But that would be a very interesting matchup to see one day, no doubt !

2025-03-20 12:11:27 +0000 UTCWhat a moment! Give him an Oscar!
Ahron Burstin
2025-03-20 06:24:40 +0000 UTCHearing that Griffin was an expert blader, I humbly and respectfully ask for a Brink commentary.
Seth B
2025-03-20 04:36:53 +0000 UTCI guess it’s really almost just an Oscar *moment* so maybe that’s not a convincing argument, but man what a moment
Rad Rodge
2025-03-20 02:54:11 +0000 UTCAbsolutely, that’s always stuck with me. I feel like his performance really grounds a lot of what’s going on in humanity
Ahron Burstin
2025-03-20 02:52:47 +0000 UTCSpeaking of extended editions, like, the grave of his son is low-key the Oscar scene for Bernard Hill, I think, not to take anything away from the rousing speeches but that’s where my mind always goes
Rad Rodge
2025-03-20 02:51:38 +0000 UTCBernard Hill would be my pick for an Oscar nom, outstanding in Two Towers and ROTK
Ahron Burstin
2025-03-19 23:58:20 +0000 UTCPulling hard for Spike Lee this year, I think he showed extraordinary strength by actually keeping the margin close against Lynch in the finals last year so against PTA or the Coens I think he has a real shot
Rad Rodge
2025-03-19 23:22:42 +0000 UTCIf I had to pick a movie which I would love to see another director take over and try to rescue in post-production, it would be "For Your Consideration"--the film had some very funny moments, but also made some terrible creative choices.
Monique Dee
2025-03-19 20:35:30 +0000 UTCVery confident we are all voting the hell out the Cohen brothers because we want another Julie Klausner episode and this would be our ticket 😁😁😁
Hannah K. Garden
2025-03-19 19:48:50 +0000 UTCLol at David's impression of the LOTR trilogy begrudgers.
Bairbre
2025-03-19 19:21:29 +0000 UTCI don't think I've ever disagreed with a David opinion more than him thinking the Fellowship extended edition is essential. Theatrical version is a miracle, those extra scenes do nothing for me lol
Jon Ryves
2025-03-19 18:52:24 +0000 UTC“Maybe I bring in some rocking chairs…” just killed me. A+ bit potential. Psycho all the way! 🤣🤣🤣🔪🪑
Emily McLongstreet
2025-03-19 18:39:58 +0000 UTCWould roll Maximum Overdrive into the Cocaine Movie series. Plus you'll get to have the lone entry in the Stephen King director series Maxipod Overcast.

2025-03-19 18:39:12 +0000 UTCThat war cart in Battle of the Five Armies? Insane, R-rated madness!

2025-03-19 18:03:33 +0000 UTCVerbinski vs Altman felt like sabotaging any chance of a Mouse Hunt episode

2025-03-19 17:43:23 +0000 UTCJust throwing this out there- Mascots low key rules
Andrew Wyslotsky
2025-03-19 17:04:34 +0000 UTC09:27 - "Chip Smith is about to burst out of my chest and slap alla you in the face" ... has...has Chip Smith just been a Kuato all this time? Is David/Chip a mutant from Mars?
Graig Kent
2025-03-19 16:49:58 +0000 UTCCocaine movie: FRANTIC
JTA
2025-03-19 16:38:26 +0000 UTCI hate to be this guy but Griff gave up the game of being a Texas style pit master the second he mentioned sweet sticky BBQ sauce….we are dry rub people.
Kevin Potter
2025-03-19 16:09:33 +0000 UTCVoting for losers in BC March Madness is a proud tradition. Welcome to the family!
Andrew
2025-03-19 15:40:42 +0000 UTCWe really need a cartoon version of Marie added to the image of the 3 boys.
Bairbre
2025-03-19 15:10:15 +0000 UTCYo, this is my first time being a Patreon member during March Madness and I voted for the loser in every single bracket. Highlander AND Mortal Kombat got beat out? I thought this was a podcast about FILM 😡
Spencer Hall
2025-03-19 14:54:42 +0000 UTCThe Hobbit extended cuts are WILD.
Steven Ray Morris
2025-03-19 14:28:33 +0000 UTCThanks for reminding me of my childhood hyperfixation on A Mighty Wind. It's gonna distract me so much that "I can't do my work!"

2025-03-19 13:17:28 +0000 UTCCan we have a new patreon bracket that's a videogame podcast featuring Mr Sims and Mr Smith?

2025-03-19 11:30:38 +0000 UTCThe tangent about “Cucky movies” has me rolling

2025-03-19 11:21:19 +0000 UTCGriffin studied the blades confirmed
By Tove!
2025-03-19 10:57:56 +0000 UTCThe Pit Master ... first of a new list of nicknames?
Bob Lannon
2025-03-19 06:48:32 +0000 UTCpit master had me dying bruh
Jeremy Jones
2025-03-19 06:37:57 +0000 UTCGriffin as the Pitmaster is my new favorite bit. This really is a decade of dreams.
Victor Garcia
2025-03-19 05:02:46 +0000 UTCThe near-simultaneity of the extended editions and the theatricals makes a difference too, I think, it’s not like an Apocalypse Now Redux or even Maclunkey situation where you’re basically hearing from a different filmmaker years later
Rad Rodge
2025-03-19 04:45:08 +0000 UTCI would sliiiightly push back in David’s direction, I guess, I think if anything the degree to which the extended editions have been embraced and even just the greater emphasis on them by PJ and the gang compared with something that was truly just a bonus (all this new music written with the knowledge it was never going into the theatrical versions, commentaries only for the extended ones, going back to this whole format again for the Hobbits) kinda necessitates that those episodes be partly about an ambiguity over what version is “the” movie
Rad Rodge
2025-03-19 04:43:03 +0000 UTCIf the Compass miniseries was on this year's bracket it would sweep
Olivia Haidar
2025-03-19 04:30:19 +0000 UTCSims is the David Mitchell of BC’s Would I Lie to You.
Tom Lowery
2025-03-19 04:03:03 +0000 UTCCame here to demand Wagons East in the direction series
William Gillen
2025-03-19 03:45:00 +0000 UTCI always thought it was a spooky coincidence that John Candy and Chris Farley both had posthumously-released western comedies (Wagons East and Almost Heroes)
torgo1985
2025-03-19 03:42:25 +0000 UTCI welcome the Patreon franchises becoming more and more dead-tech postmodernistic bullshit house, to coin a phrase
Rad Rodge
2025-03-19 03:39:11 +0000 UTCI will say, Ghosts of Mississippi and Casper in the same Patreon miniseries would indeed be the type of unjustifiable lunacy that I like from BC:SF
Rad Rodge
2025-03-19 03:38:10 +0000 UTCFYI to David there's a Perfect Dark reboot in development now, they showed off a short gameplay trailer last year.
Francis
2025-03-19 03:01:46 +0000 UTC“I’ll show you a photo of a clean plate!” 💀

2025-03-19 02:59:11 +0000 UTCStubbs.
Janet feeney
2025-03-19 02:24:54 +0000 UTCShadow the Hedgehog is bringing back the rollerblades imho
Krista
2025-03-19 01:58:04 +0000 UTCI did briefly get confused when “LXG” was mentioned and assumed everyone was talking about the #1 critic in Los Angeles
Douglas “Scoop” Reinhardt
2025-03-19 01:38:18 +0000 UTCIf they do the Volcano movies they have to also do Volcano: Fire on the Mountain. The made for TV movie that has an identical plot to Dante's Peak
Daniel O'Leary
2025-03-19 01:24:08 +0000 UTCGriffin talking about being a Pit Master makes me understand why he got bullied at Rollerblade camp.
Les Chappell
2025-03-19 01:04:26 +0000 UTCNo mention of 90s Indie Comics, which is my pick to steamroll everything else in Patreon? Disappointing.
Les Chappell
2025-03-19 01:03:14 +0000 UTCa decade of dreams!! a decade of griff the pitmaster!!
devin
2025-03-19 00:55:49 +0000 UTCYeah, the extended editions are meant to be a fun bonus for superfans, they’re not like director’s cuts
Jake Vogt
2025-03-19 00:40:47 +0000 UTCDavid’s incandescent fury is such a delight
Thomas Cromwell
2025-03-19 00:23:58 +0000 UTCWasn’t Dirty Work Farley’s last? Or was it filmed first and released after Almost Heroes?
Danielle
2025-03-18 23:52:36 +0000 UTCSome of my favorite moments on the podcast are when David refuses to “yes and.” When David “no, absolutely not”s
Champagne and Gummy bears
2025-03-18 23:50:47 +0000 UTCPeter Jackson has always been adamant that the Theatrical Cuts are his preferred version of the films. I think covering the extended editions would be a gross mistake. That’s not to say they shouldn’t be discussed on the episodes, but for them to be the focus is wrong, I think.
LS
2025-03-18 23:41:54 +0000 UTCI forget the episode but Griffin mentioned his dad loved this bbq spot and wanted to buy into it saying it would be the next big restaurant. I imagine now that was the origins of Griffin the pit master. during the day he acted and did stand up comedy and at night he was running the smoke pit and grill making delicious brisket and ribs.
Matt Miller
2025-03-18 23:02:26 +0000 UTCsad hard disagree on Almost Heroes coming anywhere close to working
Anthony Pierre Coco
2025-03-18 22:57:53 +0000 UTCI am ALL the way in on LXG now !!!!???!!! I am giggling so much at this bit!!!
Abigail Andrews
2025-03-18 22:52:11 +0000 UTCCedar is an insane choice
Tim Murphy
2025-03-18 22:25:04 +0000 UTCMatt Johnson will definitely be a future BC miniseries. I can't wait for Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie, his Blank Check movie.
Mark Pierscianowski
2025-03-18 22:24:23 +0000 UTCGriff, you should try smoking shrimp. They are delightful

Marty TC (child-sized Cardassian)
2025-03-18 21:44:53 +0000 UTClove that this bracket recap episode is 76 minutes. This pod is the best.

2025-03-18 21:36:07 +0000 UTCThese updates are my favourite episodes every year. I think next year the bracket should be all previous miniseries. Do them again!
