We've lost some beautiful friends along the way (Channing Tatum's abs, Jelly, Gerard Depardieu as Obelix, all three Coneheads, Goro, Ghostface), but we've ended the competition with two very compelling contenders. Honestly? Das not fucked up.
It's OCEAN'S vs. PHILIP K. DICK adaptations.
Either way, we get Matt Damon.
With the OCEAN'S franchise, we'd get 5 films:
- Ocean's 11 (1960)
- Ocean's Eleven (2001)
- Ocean's Twelve (2004)
- Ocean's Thirteen (2007)
- Ocean's 8 (2018)
With PHILIP K. DICK, we’d narrow the field and cover 6 films:
- Blade Runner (1982)
- Paycheck (2003)
- A Scanner Darkly (2006)
- Next (2003)
- The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
- Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
We would not be covering MINORITY REPORT and TOTAL RECALL (1987) because we’ve already covered those on the main feed, and we’d be skipping the TOTAL RECALL remake and some other stinkers because, per David - “ugh, those might kill us”
SO - which franchise will Blank Check Special Features cover in 2023? Are we ring-a-ding-dinging with Danny Ocean? Or will there be tears in the rain with Roy Batty?

The directors that have covered him run that range (in some cases by being one more instance of our hell more than critiquing it) across many decades of history. It is a fascinating slice of pop culture to explore. The only reason i can see to vote against it is if you don’t trust the hosts or the format. Or if you just LOVE the color beige

Hell, it retroactively punched holes in itself by forcing the the exclusion of Total Recall and Minority Report! Dick is a space/time paradox I don’t think we’re ready for.

I think the boys would be really good at discussing and tracking what makes the Oceans movies good and bad, and there's some truly great stuff and truly terrible stuff going on in that series. Would be fun. But I could also see them doing a Steven Poderbergh series at some point down the road, and we'd end up getting most of these anyway. I doubt we're going to get a George Nolfi series so this is probably the only chance to get Adjustment Bureau, one of the great hat-based movies of all time. I don't know what to vote for.
