Koyaanisqatsi

BC:SF starts off 2023 with a "franchise" thats a drastic departure from the MCU origins of this feed. Its ofcourse the first entry in the Qatsi film trilogy: 1982's Koyaanisqatsi! Join Griffin, David, and Ben for this freewheeling commentary on Godfrey Reggio's experimental non-narrative tone poem film...and for the vibes. Topics include: the lasting influence of this work, the Philip Glass soundtrack, plane wipers, spaghetti junctions and more!

Movie starts at...10:03

I sat down to watch this movie with my 4 month old and he was entranced.

Kyle Welker

I watched this movie as the creators intended: on Tubi’s ad supported app, while listening to bc:sf, which i had to pause throughout because of Tubi’s ads. Awesome movie and episode!

David Rosenthal

Also this movie rules so much.

Anthony Regina

David calling Beebop and Rocksteady buffoons! 🤣

Love the ep and series idea but I have to nitpick and point out that Pruitt-Igoe is in St. Louis, not Chicago! There is a very good doc about it here: http://www.pruitt-igoe.com/index.html

PearJack

anyone else almost exclusively listening to the soundtrack now?

Malcolm

Edibles kick in around 1:01-1:03

Ben chiming in with “I have a similar experience but with my dad saying, ‘Fuck’ at every BMW n Mercedes he saw” made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes

AJ Rozay

Don Davis not coming back for Resurrections was that movie's biggest crime.

Jacob Peattie

The shot toward the end of this movie where the rocket takes off and explodes is the most impressive camera work I have ever seen. It gets me every time. That rocket must be going 800 miles per hour and the debris is falling at least as fast and, miles and miles away, the camera operator follows that shit the ENTIRE time. It’s insane.

Chris Piazza

We do gotta get Don Davis some more big movies to score, for real, that is like my big takeaway from this in some ways haha

Rad Rodge

"The Ernest of arthouse movies." Thanks, team. Thank you for this.

Kenny Madison

Man it’s almost like life is out of balance

Rad Rodge

Gonna do Matthew Barney next?

Sean Francis

Great observation from David that a cool feature of a kid's toy is a jail.

Nothing gets me higher than listening to New Yorkers try to make sense of the desert ❤️

Omg! My app was at 1/2 speed when this started! I thought y’all were being silly but it was just a crazy coincidence

I like how my letterboxd stat of first movie watched every year is whatever commentary they released that day

Wow. Never in a million years would I have guessed you'd be doing this.

Scott CineRam

Spotify Wrapped shoutout at the beginning finally gives me the segue to mention I listened to 15,720 minutes of BC in 2022 😵‍💫

Erin Shaw

This made my night! I didn't expect any BC content until next week. Thanks, Ben and Marie, for posting on a holiday. This is on Tubi for those looking for a free, annoying way to watch along. Have a great year, Blankies!
