2025 here. The Han glove talk. "Good God, Lemon."

I had a y wing when I was a kid. Humble brag 😂😂

Chris Mendoza

I got it wrong. Porkins was Eckhart not Grissom and Veers was Donovan in Last Crusade. Feel better?

John Blood

neither of these things is true

Jordan B. Anderson

Porkins is Grissom from 89 Batman. The guy Vader chokes is the guy who chose poorly in Last Crusade.

John Blood

I can’t believe that I managed to sync this perfectly with you guys … after doing two ten second jumps and a pause for three seconds.

Matthew Park

Obi-wan does temporarily have ownership of R2D2 in the prequels or did I imagine that?

Josh Harvey

Gotta love that Genndy Tartakovsky makes his way into the conversation here

Peter Samuel Dobes

(Newly appointment Checkmate so catching up on the commentaries!)

Kyle Milner

I was under the impression that The Godfather was the first major film to not have opening credits?

Kyle Milner

(I hope I'm not being that guy by pointing this out, I just learned it recently in Paul Hirsch's book and wanted to share it, but...) The actual reason for not using Jabba's scene wasn't the lenses fucking up the footage, it was because Paul Hirsch (one of the main editors who went on to edit Empire) told Lucas he thought the actor was REALLY bad. Lucas agreed, but wanted to replace him with an alien model, and the ONLY reason they couldn't do it was because Han sticks his finger into Jabba's puffy chest and they couldn't rotoscope over that. Once technology caught up though? Oh it was time for Han to step on that tail and step on it goooooood

Movie starts 18:00

I hope using the Dinsey+ cut doesn't come back to bite them if Disney ever update the versions on their site and the podcast is suddenly synced with a cut that doesn't exist any more.

The girlfriend has agreed to watch star wars the first time with a combo of these commentaries playing and then listening to the Lapkus/Byer reviews!

Matthew Sherry

I absolutely appreciate the significance of watching the currently officially available versions, but since i discovered the Despecialized editions, good golly it's hard to look back.

I don't know how many European checkmates there are, but just wanted to mention, when you say you're watching "the version everyone's watching", you're talking about a version that's currently available in exactly five countries.

Mikko Viinikka

Wait what!? That wasn't really George Lucas on the old episodes?

Mikko Viinikka

Who has a timecode for the start time?

Chet Kazalski

I’m drunk enough to forget that this came out today. I can’t wait to listen.
