I think rewatching episode 2 (specifically the parts where Ed bonds Al's sould to the armour and where Ed first uses his auto mail arm) could help clear up some points about the whole "transmutation without a matrix" thing.

2020-11-19 13:42:41 +0000 UTCThe "illness" is the removed organs. She just doesnt go around telling people she commited a taboo especially to her young students. Its easier to say she's ill rather than her organs being removed messes with blood flow.
