It should also be put into consideration that Aomine is not at the level of stamina he would've been if he had continued to practice. While his skills have stayed the same, his physical abilities did not improve by much if at all compared to his glory days (although Kuroko did mention despite all that, he still made progress even without much training). So I think that played a part in the fact his zone ran out slightly faster than Kagami too.

They’re gonna explain it in the future and you’ll understand. The zone can run out but I guess you can squeeze it until the last drop lol
