Hunter x Hunter - Episode 126 Reaction EARLY ACCESS

I know this is a 5 moth resurrection right now, but I just had to compliment this. I always assumed him losing "the same limbs" was just symbolic and tied to the parallels between Meruem and Gon. I never considered that was exactly what Meruem was talking about when he described "bias against certain patterns". I've watched HxH clear through... a half dozen times now? It's still showing layers to me. Shit, man.

In my headcanon i think it goes deeper as well, the reason meruem was able to call out the left arm may have been very specific not a random taunt... and he said it was based on his "unconscious bias against certain patterns" , not even toward certain patterns, i think that could imply that because Netero had spent the later years of his life holding himself back for a challenge, using only one arm and leg to make things more interesting, he developed a super subtle unconscious bias towards not relying on those unused limbs as much, if he relied on his left arm more and right leg more, biased against relying on the other two he had spent time not using, and that could be what Meruem picked up on, that he was slightly more inclined to use attacks and movements relying on those limbs that he had restricted himself to in the past, thus they were the vulnerable points that Meruems supercomputer brain pinpointed.

I find that implication interesting, that if Meruem beheads Netero at the palace (as he well could have easily) instead of going along with his plan to get his duel, this nuke kills the entire party, including Zeno and the boys, and the 5 million civilians. It worked out... but Netero thought this was considered a risk worth taking and that should be factored into his charactization. Theres infinite other ways to go about tactically nuking this place, and if suicide bomber is the only choice you dont need the rest of the squad along if you are willing to sacrifice the civilians. So this was the highest risk option and a bit selfish from a certain perspective, because this was all setup to give Netero the battle he always wanted and go out the way he wanted. Ofcourse this option does save the civilians if the royal guard are staved off, but netero seemed to suspect the royal guard would have already killed his squad. If we take him at his word thats rather dark, but i still love it.

In the manga the kanji he used can also be translated to malice instead of evolution... but the anime altered it. (cough whitewashing) but i still loved this scene as well. So ominous!

When Netero spoke about "Humanities infinite potential for evolution" that line still gives me chills. Shit was insane, and that being the first time the King ever felt fear, he was basically like a kid feeling scared for the first time. 💀 💀 🌹

Yeah, I get that. But when you take into account, Netero was going into this fight willing to essentially suicide bomb Meruem. The condition Netero set for Meruem was: I will tell you your name if you fight me till I can no longer fight anymore. Netero told him even though Netero knew that he himself can literally fight until oblivion. In which case, he can't tell him his name. I think Netero told Meruem his name out of gracious respect, but knew that regardless, he had to end him.

There's a good argument to be made that Netero lost. Throughout he always calls Meruem "Ant King". Since he agrees to tell Meruem his name if he wins, calling him by his name was basically Netero admitting defeat.

It's funny to think that if Meruem wasn't respectful of Netero's terms and didn't care so much about keeping the fight far away from Komugi, he might've killed Netero and Zeno instantly in their one moment of hesitation when he walked in between them. His heart would have stopped beating, the nuke would've gone off, and the whole team and the millions of people around the palace would've been annihilated right away.
