Just because Kabe Sa Doujin Sakka no Neko Yashiki-kun wa Shouninyokkyuu wo Kojiraseteiru (yes... I copy-paste the title...) just have been released, I wanted to rewatch this series because they have the same kind of madness.
Also reminded me about Senpei this can't be love.

The Novelist is really good and I also recommend watching it. This was nice to watch because it is "light" in subject and the way it was presented. Good choice!!! I definitely want to see season 2 with you.

On other Japanese BLs...if you haven't seen it yet, I recommend The Novelist (aka the Pornographer). It can get REAL spicy but definitely worth it. Then after that is the prequel call Mood Indigo.
Side Note: Even though chronologically MI was first since it's a prequel, I absolutely think it's important to watch the Novelist first and then Mood Indigo because that was the release order and I think it enhances the overall series.
Both series are on Viki for me but I'm not not sure if it's also there in your region.

If you are looking for a Japanese drama to replace this one I can recommend "Kinou nani tabeta?" (https://mydramalist.com/33088-what-did-you-eat-yesterday). It's very different from the majority of BL shows because of the age, relationship status, and topics that are featured in the show. It's less cutesy and more introspective but it also has some very funny comedic scenes.

This show was so entertaining and poked fun at all the BL tropes that are featured in mangas, books, anime and dramas. ;)
