EP.315 Anti-Communal System Protest Group

The next day, Yuna’s parents quit their jobs due to health issues.

Her father, who had vowed to work until retirement, began drinking and smoking again, sighing deeply.

Her mother stayed shut in her room, never coming out.

Yuna wanted to escape the gloomy atmosphere at home as quickly as possible.

“I’m heading out.”

Pretending to go to work, Yuna left the house and went to find the anti-communal system protest group.

She had applied for about a month’s leave from her job, determined to do whatever it took during that time to save her sister Yujin.

If her leave was denied, she was prepared to resign, but her boss, aware of her circumstances, allowed her to take time off even during the busy season.

If everything worked out, she wanted to repay those who had helped her.

Clinging to a sliver of hope, Yuna forced a smile.

After two bus transfers and a taxi ride, Yuna arrived at the protest group’s building, which was set up right in front of the communal facility headquarters.

A shabby three-story commercial building stood out in front of a glass skyscraper over 50 stories tall.

“Is this the place..?”

People passing by every day threw trash, spat, or urinated at the protest group’s building.

As a result, it always reeked, but the group’s determination not to give up despite such treatment inspired trust in Yuna.

“Hooah...”

Taking a deep breath at the entrance, Yuna boldly went inside.

On the third floor, at the end of the hallway, was the office of protest leader Kim Min-jung.

“Hello. You said you were coming?”

“Yes, I’m Seo Yuna—I called yesterday.”

“Nice to meet you.”

In the protest group’s office, Kim Min-jung greeted Yuna with a bright smile.

“What brings you to see me? Advice? Or a protest proposal?”

“Well... my younger sister was unfairly made female livestock.”

“Oh... do you need legal advice?”

“Yes? Yes, I’m not sure... Please, help me save my sister..!”

Yuna, having cast aside her pride, bowed deeply at the waist to beg.

Kim Min-jung, flustered, quickly grabbed her shoulders to calm her.

“Oh, please don’t do that. I should be the one thanking you. Actually, we needed something like this.”

“Huh? What do you mean...?”

“Don’t take it the wrong way. Actually... this is a secret but...”

With a sly smile, Kim Min-jung glanced around and whispered in Yuna’s ear.

“We’re planning to completely bring down the communal facility. You came here to clear your sister’s name and restore her humanity, right? I need cases like this to make it happen.”

“Really...?”

“Of course. Your sister’s story will be a great tool to bring down the system. So please, tell me everything—what false charges were made, how she became livestock, what happened... every detail.”

“Yes. I’ll tell you everything.”

Kim Min-jung led Yuna into a consultation room.

They sat across a long table, chatting over refreshments to ease the tension.

A woman in a suit entered with a laptop and files.

“Oh, this is our group’s legal specialist. She works secretly, so I can’t give her name. Please understand.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Yuna bowed politely.

“Shall we begin the consultation?”

“Yes.”

Yuna told everything as it happened, starting with Yujin’s character and behavior, then explaining in detail why the communal facility targeted her sister.

She refuted each charge listed on the paper, explaining point by point.

In the end, it was clear Yujin had become livestock unfairly.

“I see. That’s heartbreaking to hear.”

“Yes... hhic...”

Kim Min-jung handed Yuna a tissue as she cried.

“Unfortunately, without clear evidence, there’s nothing we can do right now. If we had a recorded audio file from that day, CCTV footage, the misdelivered conscription notice, or paperwork with the wrong address... even one of those would help.”

“I’ll get it. That’s what you need, right?”

“Huh? How?”

“I may not look it, but I’m a researcher at J Group. The communication equipment used by the communal facility is my product.”

“Really?”

“Yes. If I want to... it’s illegal, but I can sneak into the server and extract audio files.”

“Hmmm~”

Kim Min-jung’s eyes changed.

If she could use Yuna’s skills, things could be resolved quickly and easily.

“I can’t prove my conversations with staff, but calls between communal facility workers should be stored on the server.”

“Yes, that’s true. They’d use company lines for business calls.”

“If I get that evidence... will my sister’s injustice be cleared?”

“Well...”

Yuna, on the verge of tears, clenched her fists.

She had come to the protest group as her last resort—if she was rejected here, it would be a devastating blow.

“Haa, Ms. Yuna.”

“Yes.”

Kim Min-jung wanted to encourage her, but had to be honest.

“To be frank, no matter how much evidence you have, it’s extremely difficult to restore someone’s humanity once they’ve become livestock. There are legal issues, tedious procedures...”

“Really..?”

“Yes, and just being unfair isn’t enough—society’s attitude is also a problem. Society isn’t on the side of livestock. Most people think the communal facility is always right.”

Just as Kim Min-jung said, Yuna had seen online how people spread false information about her sister, feeling disgusted by humanity.

“To save your sister, it’ll take at least a year.”

“That’s... too long...”

“There’s no other way.”

If possible, Yuna wanted to save Yujin before her body was ruined, but with a minimum of a year, her sister would inevitably be defiled by men.

“Hhic... then my sister...”

“There’s nothing else to do. But I’ll help clear her name as quickly as possible.”

“Yes...”

“Pull yourself together and just fill out the paperwork. There’s a confidentiality agreement and a few other things—read and sign them.”

“Thank you...”

Yuna, sniffling, read the documents.

Starting with the basics, there was also a pledge to use her real name in court if necessary, waiving anonymity.

It was a risky move that could even result in the death penalty, but...

Yuna boldly signed for her sister’s sake.

“By the way, Ms. Yuna, there are many cases like yours.”

“Huh? Like what?”

“Family, relatives, or friends being falsely accused and made livestock. Our protest group is a gathering of victims united to expose the communal facility’s brutality.”

The anti-communal system protest group.

Now it had a cumbersome name, but it started as a solo protest by a parent who lost a loved one unfairly.

One by one, more victim families joined, forming a group.

Kim Min-jung, who led by example, became the leader.

“It’s called a protest group, but really it’s just victims gathering to collect information and plan revenge.”

Kim Min-jung had a painful memory of losing a childhood friend.

Her friend, who worked in a café, was approached by a communal facility worker and refused his advances.

Later, the man accused her of finding a foreign object in his drink, and for resisting, she was sentenced to five years as a public toilet livestock.

Min-jung tried everything to save her friend, gathering evidence everywhere.

In the end, no foreign object was found, and the worker’s lie was exposed.

She tried to rally support by sharing her friend’s story, but was met only with scorn and ridicule.

People said, “A woman with a pussy trying to dodge conscription,” and no one listened to Min-jung’s pleas.

That’s why...

“That’s why, Ms. Yuna, I think this will keep happening until the communal facility is gone.”

She knew better than anyone that there was no way to completely change this rotten world.
