Turning cautiously, Gina peers into the alley to discover a fellow victim of the gnomes harvesting while said harvesting is still in progress. At first she considers ways in which she might intervene, but then another notion occurs to her.
There are some challenges to this "one panel is one page" style of comic that I didn't anticipate when I began. Mostly the problem is dialogue: how much dialogue do I need to put in one page to advance the scenario, versus how much dialogue will seem unnatural to get through in one panel, which usually represents five seconds to about a minute of actual time?
Too little dialogue and the page doesn't have enough substance, too much and it seems unnatural and overly talky. On this page, I decided that Gina discovering the Awesome Business Woman being stripped at the end of the alley obviously deserved its own page, but maybe Gina stroking her chin and deciding what to do next did not. As you can see, I decided to put the chin stroking in an insert panel, and hopefully make the story not bog down too much.
Artist's note: When I first drew it, it was just a head and shoulders shot of Gina with her hand near her face. Then I realized the opportunity I was leaving on the table, and redrew it so that her boobs were hanging out of the panel.
Some creative decisions are easier than others.
