Second channel: Custom First Aid, PAKRATT-64 packet modem, TRS-80 M1 Digital I/O expander and more

Hello my patrons! Well look at this, I managed to post this SMMC episode with less than 24 hours before it goes live. I will eventually catch up :-) This is a "shorter" episode than normal, but we have a pretty interesting C64 radio interface, allowing data transmission over RF. I'm excited to see if I can actually do some over the air testing of this -- although that will take some coordinating with some local HAMs, so that won't happen right away. It'll be more interesting content to look forward to at some indeterminate amount of time in the future. :-)

As a side note, I'll be attending VCF SW in Dallas next month, so if you are in the area, come and say hi! I won't be getting a booth but I'll be hanging around the event the whole weekend!

Thanks for all the support!

You should spend a couple hours a week getting back (or deeper) into ham Adrian. I don't know, didn't look, if you're Technician or General class (I'm guessing you didn't go AE, that's pretty advanced, although you'd pass the test no problems with your electronics knowledge) but well now isn't really the time to be buying a 'new' HF radio, but i bet you could find a used Yaesu FT-991a or something for 7 or 800 bucks and it would really blow your mind how amazing playing around with digital modes on HF can be.. it's a lot of fun, and no I don't play with the old school stuff anymore but I had a good time doing FT-8 on digital mode, gosh I made hundreds if not a thousand contacts worldwide.. it's a LOT of fun.. but it does take a lot of the elusive 'free' time NONE of us have anymore.. 73, Kt0nyb!

I am not a radio amateur, but certainly Yes for the AX.25 stuff. BTW we played with TNC via phone network party lines in the late 80ies... (it involved some 2600Hz tones during initial dial up....) for quite some years I had a dedicated bulky 286 laptop just for baycom, later ka9q NOS on a sideboard 24/7.
