Owari in alt style as promised!

Now time for some reflection haha.

I’ve been working with my usual semi realistic style for quite a while now. But it starts to get slightly boring and exhausting, also because I haven’t been able to push my audience more than I expected in those 3 years. I’m still very grateful for everyone and everything I’ve achieved so far.

But recently I’ve been testing anime styles in the hope of switching my content at some point. As you can see through the shading, I still want to keep that slight semi realistic taste to it, I’m having more fun with linearts for a while now - I was trying to find a middle ground between my usual style and an anime style.

Internet is flooded with AI semi realistic pictures ; not that I mind it much, but I’ve always been the type to give my all no matter what, even for art. If I did an anime art style drawing, I would just tell myself that this isn’t my highest potential, that I can do even more, go even bigger - as if I had something to prove to myself or to anyone. I’m still proud of my works and that I’ve pushed my skills higher thanks to this. But is it really worth it spending 30h on each art, exhausting myself, when someone can just generate a higher quality in 5 seconds? I could be providing even more content and arts and fun concepts if I switched to anime.

Now I’ve got the questions popping in my head: what will my audience say? Would some commissions resign?

Aesthetically I prefer this style even more than my usuals, it’s also more enjoyable work wise, it takes me 3x less time, and it seems like I can experiment with it even more. With semi realism it’s quite challenging, one slight bad brush stroke can ruin the look of something.

Now, I’m not changing my style in this particular moment, because I’ve still got a big commission queue to finish, so until August I’ll be doing them from time to time, until the moment comes.
