Catch-Up (November) Q&A!
Added 2019-12-20 07:08:52 +0000 UTCSo, as some of you may have realized it is no longer November. But worry not! I'm still hosting a Q&A and I'll do another for December after Christmas but before the new year.
My aim with the monthly Q&A is to give you guys an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the story, me, my process, or really anything you want. The floor is yours so you get to decide what you want to ask!
In the future (January, specifically) the Monthly Q&A will typically be done at the end of the month, but I'm open to suggestions and comments if people would instead prefer an open thread all month long.
While most everything is an open book there are a few things I might not answer, chiefly among them is anything that's super spoiler-y. As this is strictly going out to the Silver-Marked, you're all 20 chapters ahead anyway and anything related to said chapters is fair game.

I've talked long enough though! Hit me up with a question if you got one (or not, that's cool too!) and I'll answer them.

Happy holidays to you too! Awesome questions. 1) There are grim bits, and dark mysteries but the main thread of the story is not intended to be totally grimdark or overly grim. In some ways, this is a bit of a low point for Hal as he discovers things that he wasn't aware of and makes connections. However, while they are important discoveries they are not precisely "a sign of things to come" if that's what you mean. With his growing power, Hal now has the ability to enact change instead of constantly reacting. The chapters into the 50s will begin showcasing that and bring a lighter tone where Hal is equipped to deal with the issues and trials before him. 2) This may be an issue stemming from if you read it on a patreon post vs the PDF. The posts have nearly zero formatting (like strikeout) which would make it seem like he's getting all of those powers. I was trying to show what he would have gotten because as Hal went above and beyond while fighting the shoggoth and the sporelings, he triggered multiple "bonuses" as it were. So, he could have stopped if he looked at his quest mid-battle to see that he now had Chimera Knight unlocked and was awarded 2 bonus perks. Each of the following extra perks wasn't meant to be in addition, but rather a new "tier" he unlocked. Each tier was superior to the previous one. In which case, the last one before unlocking Beastborne would have been to unlock Chimera Knight with 3 perks and 2 bestial traits. Hal hasn’t learned much about Fabled classes yet, but I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to tell you that they are vastly superior to the average class. As a result, he didn’t gain any bonus perks or traits because Chimera Knight turned into the “Fabled Class” of Beastborne. Which is superior to Chimera Knight. Essentially, it includes all of the powers you would get with Chimera Knight, plus the unique Beastborne aspects. I hope that answers your questions! If there’s anything else you’d like clarified let me know.

I mainly have 2 questions, first in the last few chapters there has been hint that the novel could turn quite grim, I'm just curious if it's gonna be a min thing or just on the side? Then on Chapter 39, when half finish the Chimera Knight quest and get the Best borne class, the quest reward mention 8 extra perks and 3 Beast traits, but I don't remember seeing anything else about that?
