2021 Monthly Polls
Added 2020-11-27 03:49:00 +0000 UTCThis week I've been working on the female NPCs Werewolf Wake update and idk if I'll have it done by this weekend or by the end of the month, but if it's not done by those times then a WIP of Werewolf Wake will go up for patrons in the weekly, biweekly, and monthly update tiers at the appropriate times. Anyways, the rest of this post is simply an announcement for future monthly polls. 2021 is only a month plus a few days away, so I'm going to talk about it now. Also, each time I refer to patrons in this post... I am referring to the patrons in the polling tiers ($2 & up monthly tiers) because this is a post about polls. You don't need to read the rest of this post unless you want to know what's expected for future polling (not including this month: November 2020).
There will be two monthly polls each month in 2021. One poll will focus on new games while the other poll will focus on game update(s).
In even-numbered months, we will have a monthly poll for a new game. It is a free-for-all poll in which patrons can vote for as many themes as they want and the winner will be the theme for a new game. We will also have a monthly poll for a new game update. The game update will be a free-for-all poll (patrons can vote for as many games as they want) with no carryover votes. The one winner of the game update poll will receive a game update based off the top choice of the game's individual poll(s).
In odd-numbered months, we will have a monthly poll for new game themes. It is a free-for-all poll in which patrons can vote for as many themes as they want. The winners of the poll will move on to appear in the next month's new game poll to replace the previous new game winner as a polling option and to replace any polling option that received zero votes. The losing theme options of the poll that were themes that still received votes will stay on to a future poll while all those that received zero votes will be axed. We will also have a monthly poll for two games to be updated. Only one poll vote per patron. This will have carryover votes from the prior two game updates polls (and also the current 2020 game updates poll). The game updates will be based off the top choice of the two games' individual poll(s) plus any patron that voted for the game but did not vote for the top choice will also receive an update based off whatever polling option they voted for (assuming it's not something like 10 different patrons all voting for the same game but each voted for a different polling option for that game update).
This isn't a major change. It's still 1 new game per every two months based off polls and 3 game updates per every two months based off polls. The difference between now and future polls can be summarized as...
New game: monthly poll alternating between 1 poll for potential new game themes & 1 poll for new game. Winners of potential new game themes poll will move on to the new game poll to replace any game theme that won previously and were made as games or to replace themes that received zero votes.
Game update: monthly poll alternating between 1 poll for one game update (free-for-all vote) & 1 poll for two games to receive updates (1 vote per patron in the polling tiers. Carryover votes allowed.). One game update will receive only one specific update based off the top polling choice for that game. Two games to receive updates can potentially have multiple updates if the voters for those games did not vote for the top polling choice in a specific game's poll. Additionally, a game that wins either poll will be ineligible the following month, thus no game will be able to win two polls in two months.
Why am I making these changes: The last game update poll had three games tied for third place, and then there was another game with three update options tied for first place, and then there was another game that had a voter for it not voting for the top option, which all results in 8 game updates total. I can't do 8 game updates in a single month and it's a struggle to get that amount done in two months. Splitting up the game polls into two polls (one each month) will prevent this from happening again.
These changes do not affect the current November 2020 game update monthly poll. I'll reveal the results of that poll on Saturday, November 28. These changes will affect the December 2020 monthly poll and I will do two different monthly polls in December as a result, one for a new game and one for one game update. All the games that will win the November 2020 monthly game update poll will not be eligible for the December poll but they will become eligible again for the January two games update poll. All games that don't win the November poll and also received at least one vote... will then have their votes carried over to the January 2021 two games update poll.
