i thinking removing the drunk ep from tier 1 would be a little unfair, adding to the higher tier makes complete sense. Its just not fair to those who cant afford it. for example as an Australian we're already paying almost $10 a month them making it it $10 US will mean its now $20 for us Australians and some other countrys im sure, and thats just not feasible

my suggestion would be a higher tier. Add more content to the high level, decrease content slightly to the lower level. (for example: move the drunk episodes to tier 2, but keep the after school special as tier 1)

Love this video, being open and showing the way we have helped you guys to progress. Personally have no problem with a raised price, with the information provided and delivery of said information. However, counter offer, (I don’t really know how this app works as a creator) if possible, a second tier option, first tier still gets videos early, but higher price gets the all the extras (aside from drunk episodes, which both would get).

I just resubbed after a few months off. Doubling is an aggressive and risky strategy. You know you will lose some subs but are gambling on the increasing revenue to offset the loss. If you would go for a gradual increase, like $7 (and raise that every year or so), then it would be safer.

10 dollars a month is a lot. If you want to post more content could you maybe have tiers? 10 dollars a month is a 120 dollars a year... which is a lot of money to spend on a patreon. Netflix for example has a monthly cost of 6.99$ with ads where I am getting so much more content. So, costing more monthly than netflix would be a lot. But I understand if you do end up raising it and will be excited to watch your videos weekly on youtube a little behind.

This brings me so much joy, I know dropouts has been all of yours’ passion and I can only imagine the amount of happiness, fulfillment, and gratification this project must bring you all, especially in particular you Zach considering the years of constant persistence and love for dropouts and those involved! The best advice I can consider is to implement tiers. 1) For those that only want original dropouts diner content, after school special, and a drunk episode, a base tier could be created for a price you deem worthy. 2) A tier for the next installment, of which I would do heavy marketing and lots of teaser footage. Im guessing the lunch table would be first since it looks like it might be ready the soonest, but you get the idea. 3) And so on! You can have as many podcasts theoretically and direct all traffic to 1 overhead Patreon page with tiers incorporating individual or combined content under the title Dropouts. I suggest this only considering you may lose a lot of people with a price increase. Dropouts itself and the content you post for that shouldn’t be worth more nor less than what it’s currently at. A great incentive for those already accustomed to that price would be the chance to upgrade to more expensive tiers rewarding new exclusive content associated with your new endeavours. This is only my thoughts!! I love you all so much and want you to succeed so badly. In return maybe you’ll have me on one of them one day after my podcast is up and running finally😅, I think I mentioned this before on other posts so maybe you’ll remember, if you do, YEP, still not quite ready. $60/year to $120/year is a pretty big increase. Not saying fans won’t pay, just yearly that a huge difference. I’d offer my suggestion at keeping the tier at $5 and showing the audience maybe for 3-6m what the $10 raise will look like and then possibly swapping it then. It gives the fans/audience a better judgement on if it’s worth it to them. Plus works in your benefit to convince them why they should pay it. 🫣

I would recommend going to a tiered model to allow those who are existing subscribers to continue to receive the same amount of content for their $5/mo. That being said, if you are adding a tier at 2x the cost, I would recommend it include At least 2x the content to make it worthwhile for those who are able and willing to further support you financially. I would also take into consideration your new podcast(s) under Dropouts Media and whether exclusives from that content will be a separate Patreon or whether it will be included in separate tiers within this Patreon account. That could also affect your fans and their ability to support all your content. Loved the episode in the car - more of this. Keep up the great work!!!

I think that everything you guys are doing is amazing, but i do believe that peoples situations might make to hard for them to afford putting the price up to $10. i know myself that i wouldn't be able to afford that due to being a student and i would hate to miss out on seeing content that really brightens my week. i think that the exchange rate in different countries would also factor into people's ability to justify the price increase as well.

Do 2 tiers. Lots of podcasts do. At the $5 tier, drunk episode and After SS. $10 Tier is BTS, bonus episodes, experimental content (like the road trip), and get to vote on a special guest, or maybe q&a for someone, or they get to submit a question. $10 tier would make someone feel like “part of the crew”. Maybe even have a censored vs uncensored version of the episode, like certain details that you bleep out/cut in a regular episode, you leave in to a $10 tier episode. Or a censor swearing on YouTube for monetization, but have the uncensored version at the next tier up. Also, maybe cut down the shows back to like 45 minutes and the full, “less edited” show could be on the $10 tier. Plus, everybody likes merch/stickers. $10 tier could get a free sticker after 3 months membership, and early access to any future merch/shows, then $5 tier gets access, then the public.

I'm still waiting on them doing what most big podcasts do and go to 3 episodes aweekto build there audience for a year or 2 to gain a huge audience then cut back later. I’m in Australia, and I already pay $10 due to taxes and the conversion rate. I’m not paying $20 if I’m not getting $20 worth of context (and I’m barely getting $10 worth right now). We are in an international cost of living crisis, most people don’t have an extra $10 for exclusive content.

I think $5 is fair for early episode , drunk episode and afterschool special. If you want, make a second tier. Then you could have a $10 tier that includes all of that plus the behind-the-scenes and stuff you were talking about adding. That way you’re not losing money from losing subscribers.

Adding the second tier of $10 could definitely be an option if you guys want to do it that way. It lets people opt in to give more while anyone who can’t do that yet won’t lose anything. Personally I’d be happy to give $5 more if it helped Dropouts Media take off and let you guys do bigger and better things. I really think you would be surprised how many patrons will choose to increase and go to tier 2 just to help you guys out and follow along on your journeys via the BTS footage, vlogs, etc.

Depending on the difficulty of adding a second tier it could be the best option if your intention is to add more content than what’s currently being posted. Whatever type of new content have planned could be the entirety of the new tier. Financially if you lose half of your patrons by raising the price, but provide more content you’re likely seeing similar revenue with increased work. So unless the majority of the audience plans to stay it may not work out to your advantage. The best way to determine this may be to post a poll rather than relying on comments. Regardless, I will stay as long as the content is quality.

The space looks amazing and really enjoyed the peak behind the scenes. Personally, I wouldn't mind the increase in price just since I think what I get out of seeing all the content is worth it - however I understand that this may price out some people - especially younger viewers. That being said, I think it is also important for us as viewers to recognise that costs rise no matter what and in order to see the maximum potential of Zach, Jared, Skylar, Alyssa, and the team, capital will be required. Dicey opinion I know, and not ignorant to the scariness of the change, but I don't think it's a bad question to ask us. Really appreciate being included in the decision :). TLDR: Happy to pay the increase since the content is worth way more than $10. Expect the price to increase with the economy and with quality and quantity. Love to see you all grow and succeed and appreciate being given the option to voice our opinions.

I think the fun of Dropouts is that you can get a whole bunch of bonus content for your favorite podcast for cheap. I would create 3 tiers your basic at $5 with pretty much the same content as now $10 everything but also more vlogs and special giveaways like every half year or something and finally tier 3 $25 everything else but maybe add a merch discount, maybe release a recording of your live shows maybe a big raffle to invite a follower in this tier to have a tour whenever the studio is done i would pay $25

I mean I know its a jump so I definitely think there should be tiers, however you guys are already nice enough to do give aways every month and the content is always exceptional and indispensable to my weekly happiness. i would do tiers to minimize loss. if i were you, i'd keep the giveaways for patreon members who do the $10 instead of the $5 not only as incentive, but almost as a thank you because they were willing to be boosted and you already invest so much money into the membership and you guys into the giveaways it would be worth it on both ends. plus you could always just do a merch give away for the $5 tier to not completely neglect them. also u guys are so nice for asking literally best podcast best ppl

I agree with the overall 2 tier concept at $5 and $10 respectively, however I have some thoughts on the implementation of the $10 tier. I'd suggest that those who have been long time consecutive subscribers (say 6 months+ for argument's sake) should get temporarily grandfathered into the $10 tier (say for 3 months) as a thank you for having come aboard and stuck around for the ride ups/downs notwithstanding. After that grace period, those that want the extra content will stick around at $10 rate and those who don't care will stay at their $5 but with the reduced level of content appropriate for that level. But this is ONLY for those grandfathered with above described eligibility. New subscribers should have the option of coming in at the $10 or $5 tiers from the off....

I like what user Tara Rae suggests. Do 2 tier one being $5 two being $10 with more content but should be 50/50 (OF Extra content) so the $5 viewers get the regular thing they always pay for but the $10 should be getting 100% of the extra content and of course the regular show must always be free...otherwise your business will die. Love the way the future looks! If you bump it to $10 then I think you would need to (at minimum) extend the after school specials to 1 hour minimum instead of the 15-30 mins we get. IDEALLY do that extension on the afterschool special to 1 hr plus an entirely new podcast(which seems the route yall be going) that must post another full hour of content a week. So in total $10/month: 1 hour Dropouts Official 1 hour afterschool special 1 hour new podcast 30 min BTS VLOG 3.5hr Per week 14hr content/month $5/month: 1 hour dropouts official 1 hour afterschool special 2hr Per week 8hr content/month

I also think it’s important to keep into account that most of your subscribers are college students who have school and other bills to pay for. Pay for your Patreon is one of the few “commodities” that we pay for. We have to put other fun activities on the back burner because we can’t afford it but paying for your Patreon is a luxury for us as dumb as that may sound. If there is not a new tier developed but instead it is just the one tier being raised I do fear that there might not be a lot of new people subscribing. The $5 is a reasonable point of entry for most. I know you said that right now multiple tiers does not make sense due to various reasons so I would recommend holding off until it does. With a $10 point of entry you may see a fall off of new buyers as well as the fall off of those who cannot pay more than $5. I completely understand the new amount of costs, especially with new productions and employees. I personally would continue to support but some people may be satisfied with what is already available for free. I definitely think a new tier is the best bet in the future if you decide you need some price increase. I know it doesn’t fit now, I just really don’t believe raising the point of entry will benefit you as much as you might hope. Either way, I look forward to the new productions you have in the future and will continue to support.

My first reaction is to do another tier, but I see your response to that below so no need to say that again, even though I just did. I'm definitely open to $8-$10, just not any higher. Personally, I'd need a "quick" turnaround with the additional content. Obviously the increase is going to go towards building up Dropouts Media, and I understand that's gonna take a minute. I think before the increase, a post should be made about the future planned content and it's likelihood of actually existing (like in every expansion, some compromises are made that may eliminate some stuff), and a rough projected timeline (maybe put up a poll to decide this if it's not set in stone yet?). Then nobody can say they felt scammed or cheated because they at least had a little bit of an idea of what they were signing up for. Also make that post public so free members can see it for maximum buy in potential. My two cents have been deposited. Excited to see the future of Dropouts Media!

Have been watching for a little over a year now and just wanted to say i am absolutely ecstatic that you guys are able to do something like this. Alyssa, jared, zach and skyler, you all deserve the world and very clearly put so much of your time and dedication into consistently trying to make the podcast better and to a higher standard. The dropouts podcast has helped to get me through the hardest year of my life and i cherish this so deeply. If you feel as though it would benefit the podcast as a whole to raise from $5-$10 i can definitely understand why. These things certainly dont come cheap! With that being said i dont see all of the viewers and being on that same page, especially because my guess would be that a lot of your fanbase are probably college age kids who maybe dont have that extra $5 a month. With everything going up lately, it's getting harder to keep little things we enjoy. I'm personally having to downsize on a lot of things I love or like because everyone thinks it's just a simple increase. In total, it adds up. Personally, I wouldn't be able to do the $10. I'm a momma to teenagers and I canceled misc things this month to make sure they have things they need for school and such. After currency conversions i think $10 would probably be too much for me. Especially on top of the other subscriptions that I have each month. I think a second tier would make the most sense but given you’ve already commented you aren’t going to do that, I think leaving at $5 might be the best option to not price out a lot of people who seem to feel the same way

I totally understand the raise though, as that’s a lot more content to edit and manage, and $10 a month is honestly very reasonable being that you put out very high quality content. I think $10 is a lot, but at the same time we all want to support you guys and like watching you do the extra content is appreciated. I think if you were to raise it to $10 we should get more content whether that’s more vlogs or a second podcast per week. I don’t think I’d cancel my subscription if it went up, but it definitely makes it harder for us to subscribe to other channels on Patreon. Like I said there’s been a lot said online about you guys specially Zach and now that Tara isn’t here. We love watching and think you guys are good people so do what you have to do. Increased price usually correlates with paying more for more content. Therefore, like most creators, they feel as though their increased worth should equal a higher paywall. If the $10 model can equal more content then fine. But as a subscriber for 5/6 months, why would I pay more to follow a group that have already showed proof of lowering video length. It’s a bad time to do it imo. It gives off the impression that there are other opportunities for you so we are becoming a latter thought. My opinion. If the base subscription becomes $10 I won’t be renewing. Either way, I hope the best for this 👍 Also disagree with the approach. Don’t fish in the pond when there’s a sea 10 miles away. Model-wise, business should be extrapolating wealth from untapped areas, not over-indulging in its current possessions. $10 from the loyal 2000 is nothing compared to the $5 from the 10,000.

if you’re going to be posting more on the patreon and taking more of your time and money to be able to do that then i think you should raise it. $5 for after school special and early eps and drunk eps is fine but if you’re adding more than just that content def move it up to $10. people will pay it if they’re getting more content. if nothings going to change and it increases i think people would get upset. but if it’s more content def raise it. i hope what i said make sense im sick right now and i can’t tell lol

i think a lot of people are gonna have the same opinions honestly. It seems really drastic when at that point people could just follow along from youtube, and still not miss out on that much. $10 seems like a price gouge when there are already plenty of creators offering a plethora of FREE content, as well as everything in life is getting more expensive, it becomes to feel less enjoyable when you're spending the same amount on something as i could be spending on a hulu/max/netflix subscription but in turn only getting one creator's content.. I get it for the die hard fans but i dont see it being a benefit bringing the price up of the tier. Create a separate $5 tier for all the extra content you're explaining youll add, and if people want to pay for both, they can. It just seems like you should give people an option to differ in tiers before people have to choose all or nothing. all love but just dont think its the smartest idea

I'm not from US, so I pay something like R$34, which is "a lot" but I really like the content. If it raised to $10 then it would become a lot for me, but I think most of the viewers are from US, or countries that the dolar is not that different in price, so I personally think that $10 is not a lot.

to be honest, i'd probably pay for a few months but i'm a teenager and don't have a bunch of money besides a small job so i really don't think i'd do it for that long. i'd suggest just pumping out like two vlogs or something and seeing the reception on those. if they go really well then the price going up could make sense, but in general i think it's best to just show us what we'd pay for since it's all brand new

I would definitely take a look at the $10 tier. I think the more money you make, the better it is for you! I don't have a fully established job or career, but I could spare a few bucks for a month or two out of the year! It definitely is not something I would have all the time, and even in that instance, I would still be purchasing the $5 tier! Love you guys more than any other podcast! Hope your decision comes easy and that you benefit from all of it! Edit: I just realized that you were saying that it would be changed from 5 to 10 dollars! Do a patreon for each different podcast! Keep this one dropouts, do one for lunch table, etc. easier to track funding and also gives people the freedom to choose how much they want to spend on your content and what content they want to see.

my suggestion would be a higher tier. Add more content to the high level, decrease content slightly to the lower level. (for example: move the drunk episodes to tier 2, but keep the after school special as tier 1)

I just resubbed after a few months off. Doubling is an aggressive and risky strategy. You know you will lose some subs but are gambling on the increasing revenue to offset the loss. If you would go for a gradual increase, like $7 (and raise that every year or so), then it would be safer.
