I'm always happy when I come across a forgotten demo for a song that Maia Sharp and I wrote together. I talk about her all the time, but it's because she's a badass. Our time writing together is so precious to me, and hearing this one today gave me a smile when I needed it. This one was written a few years back. It's more on the "country" end of the spectrum of my songwriting and has a little Southern charm to it. Hope y'all enjoy!
"Warm Light Honey" was written by Noah Guthrie & Maia Sharp
Chorus
When in times of trouble
In this god-forsaken town
When your deals gone rotten
And it's all for nothing now
There is warm light honey
A southern rhythm, sweet and slow
There is smooth white lighting
And cornbread on the stove
Verse
These hard days I've had
Would be a crash course for anyone
I've outlasted another one
But I'm sure tired of losing
She said son be mindful
of the stars your wishing on
What you long for when its gone
Is yours for the choosing
Chorus
When in times of trouble
In this god-forsaken town
When your deals gone rotten
And it's all for nothing now
There is warm light honey
A southern rhythm, sweet and slow
There is smooth white lighting
And cornbread on the stove
Verse
30 years gone by and wasn’t I
A man for the company
Never saw all I could be
Just there for the taking
This house of cards
Begins and ends and depends on me
For the good of the family
Some dreams ain't worth waking
Chorus
When in times of trouble
In this god-forsaken town
When your deals gone rotten
You think it's all for nothing now
There is warm light honey
A southern rhythm, sweet and slow
There is smooth white lighting
And cornbread on the stove
Bridge
Warm light honey
Southern rhythm, sweet and slow
Smooth white lighting
Cornbread on the stove
Chorus
When in times of trouble
In this god-forsaken town
When your deals gone rotten
And it's all for nothing now
There is warm light honey
A southern rhythm, sweet and slow
There is smooth white lighting
And cornbread on the stove
