Hey friends! For this month's Birdhouse Archive entry, we have a song called "Small Victories." This one is a true "Worktape" as we call it. Basically, that means it's a voice memo that I recorded on my phone as soon as we got done writing it. Worktape sounds so much cooler though, right?
Written with my friend Julie Lavery, we wrote this when I struggled quite a bit mentally. Sometimes a Co-Write can turn into a bit of a therapy session and I am so grateful to have friends like Julie who can help pull the best out of you even when you aren't feeling your best. After a few bad months, I felt exhausted and ready for a win no matter how small. This song is about looking internally to find the extra strength you need to keep moving forward.
I love you all and as always, I'm excited to share more with you soon.

Lyrics
Dreams wake me up
Fighting on the frontline
of a restless mind
Hot is my blood
Lost inside a reverie
Am I losing touch
Maybe it's the perfect night
to change my life
At war with myself
I am my worst enemy
Afraid to ask for help
When a quiet stampede
As certain as the stars
Is heading for my heart
Raise my white flag in the air
I surrender to the fear
Remember how it feels to breathe
Exhaling who I’m supposed to be
I’m ready for the small victories
Time’s playing games
Raising up my hopes
And throwing fake grenades
Pain taught me well
The trick is up my sleeve
Cause I hold all the keys
Raise my white flag in the air
I surrender to the fear
Remember how it feels to breathe
Exhaling who I’m supposed to be
I’m ready
To feel free
Raise my white flag in the air
I surrender to the fear
If I learn to love myself
Maybe I can leave this hell
Remember how it feels to breathe
Exhaling who I’m s’posed to be
I’m ready
I’m ready
I’m ready for the small victories
