Added 2024-02-04 19:25:24 +0000 UTCI can confirm that the Margot Robbie movie is still in development plus some info on the other Pirates movie from Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott. While initially the protagonist was supposed to be RED, a white female pirate from the Disneyland ride, with Karen Gillan eyed to star, plans have changed and the new protagonist is now a black female lead named ANNE (could be a codename), with The Bear's Ayo Edebiri now eyed to star. The focus on this new version is on a younger cast of pirates looking for a hidden treasure.

I would’ve loved to have seen a movie about Captain Red, but I’m interested to see what Edebiri can bring to the role
