The dweeb. Bruce came to the states as a kid with little memory of Taipei and no idea of his family’s past. A self-proclaimed loser, he takes improv classes with the hope of one day becoming famous and respected. But when his infamous and respected brother shows up on his doorstep, Bruce is thrown into a world that he is vastly unprepared for. He’ll have to rely on his quick-wit and charm to survive and along the way finds a taste of the respect he craves. [ CHARLES "CHAIRLEG" SUN ]
Character is male, early 30s, Taiwanese, speaks fluent Mandarin
The killer. Charles grew up the elder son of a crime boss, groomed to be a hardened criminal. When he was thirteen, an assassin attacked his father and mother at Saturday dimsum, Charles beat the assailant to death with a chair leg, securing his fate as a Triad killer. A dutiful son, he follows his father’s every command, suppressing his own desires and interests. He bakes amazing cakes and desserts in secret. After his father is sent into a coma from a sniper’s bullet, Charles goes to Los Angeles to protect his mother and younger brother, even though he thinks he’s above it. And there he finds himself torn between the life he’s been raised in and the life he could make for himself. Martial arts, dance, or choreography experience and training is a plus; please note on submissions. The mastermind. Eileen Sun grew up in a rich Taiwanese family and married a charming, and dangerous young man – Big Sun. Shrewd and observant, she quickly proved to be an asset to the budding crime boss. Together they were able to amass power and fortune, until she learned too much. She was forced to flee to Los Angeles with her youngest son. Cut off from all contact with her past life she had to scrape together a life for herself and her son while keeping an ear to the ground for new threats. Ever since she left, he’s held onto his position with increasing ruthlessness, wielding his own son as a cudgel. Storyline: BRUCE SUN, is a meek college student whose only concern is hiding his dreams of being the next improv comedy star from his mother. His estranged older brother, CHARLES SUN was raised by their crime boss father to be a ruthless killer and puts his duty to his family above all else. However, when their father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles has to go to Los Angeles to protect his mother and give Bruce a crash course in the family business.
