We are looking for a Japanese woman with fluent native Japanese and fluent English to play the lead female role, MARIKO, in a new FX show 'SHOGUN', based in the celebrated James Clavell book of the same name. The story is set in Japan in 1600 and will start shooting in September 2018. MARIKO is around 30, perfect, full of dignity, reserve and
intelligence. She is a samurai class woman who, despite her controversial past, is an attendant and advisor to TORANAGA - one of the most poweful warlords in Japan. She is a Christian convert, and ultimately becomes the lover of BLACKTHORNE, Our hero. She interprets between Japanese and English, so her English and Japanese must be fluent.

covers his tempestuous rise to the Shogunate. His power and status make this the role where we are most likely to want to cast a star.

Japanese. Lord of lzu, around 40 years old, he is short, squat, a battle-hardened veteran. Utterly fearless and contemptuous of fear in others, which feeds a well-developed appetite for cruelty. Quick intelligence and a sense of the ridiculous give him a humour albeit a grim variety - that plays in his eyes.

Japanese. The nephew of Lord Yabu, 20s, a local samurai who initially captures Blackthorne when his ship is blown ashore. Despite his ability for extreme violence he is a more measured, smarter, more pragmatic man than his uncle, whose love of torture disgusts him. Some nudity required.

Japanese. The 18 year-old beautiful courtesan of the first class. Tiny, beautiful, translucent and an expert at her trade. Nudity required.

Japanese. The village headman who houses Blackthorne at the beginning of the show. 50, small lean, grey-haired, strong. worker's calloused hands. He spies for Lord Toranaga and interacts a lot with Blackthorne.
