Male, to play Mexican American, 30s, not formally educated but intuitively very smart, proud of his heritage, good-humored, optimistic, likable, loving, hardworking, a creative thinker and a dreamer with a streak of pragmatism. Despite an innate ambition and hustle, Richard leaves school early, takes to the streets and does some time in jail as he struggles to get a foothold in his life. He meets his wife, Judy, at age 10, and the two of them become an inseparable, devoted couple with three sons. Richard eventually gets a job as a janitor at the Frito Lay plant and his arrogance doesn’t always earn him admirers, particularly amongst his co-workers. However, his tenacity, hard work and belief in himself (encouraged by Judy) result in an outcome and success beyond his or anyone else's wildest dreams...LEAD
Storyline: FLAMIN’ HOT tells the true story of Richard Montanez, the son of a Mexican immigrant, who was a janitor at Frito Lay, when he came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. His creation, inspired by the flavors of his community, revitalized Frito-Lay and disrupted the food industry, creating a pop culture phenomenon that continues today.
