Devblog #27 - Drawing Curves

Hey everyone, LoafyLemon here! I'm back with another deep dive into the inner workings of my creative processes and what I have learned over the year working on this project.

So, to begin, I must say that I am incredibly grateful for all the support and feedback I've received from you lot over the past year. I've never expected to have such a positive response to my work, and it's truly humbling to see how much you all enjoy what I do. It's because of you that I'm able to continue doing what I love and keep pushing myself to improve.

As a programmer at heart, picking up art has been a steep learning curve, but about two years in, I'm starting to feel like I'm finally getting the hang of it, so much so that I'm enjoying it more than ever before. I've been experimenting with different styles and techniques, and I think I've found a groove that works well for me, which you may have caught a glimpse of in some of my recent posts.

I've also been working on improving my workflow, efficiency, and consistency. I've learned to break down complex drawings into smaller, manageable steps, which has helped me to work faster and more efficiently. I've also been experimenting with different tools and software to find what works best for me, and I think I've finally found a setup that I'm happy with. In fact, I just bought a new toy that I'm really excited about - my very first display tablet! It feels very different compared to the classic graphic tablet I've had before, but I'm already loving it.

So, without further ado, let's see the first piece I've made using my new toy. I've been wanting to draw Nymphadora Tonks for a while now, and I finally got enough skill and courage to do so. I hope you like it!

I'm really proud of how this one turned out, and I think it's a good representation of where I'm at with my art right now. I've tried to capture Nymphadora's unique features and facial expressions, and I think I've done a decent job of it considering it's the first time I've drawn her, and at an angle that we have no other references for. Of course, the final result will always be a bit different once I get to add the colours, but I'm already happy with the lineart.

I've also been working on a few other pieces that I've already shared on discord, for example, my attempts at drawing Hermione's chibis. I've been trying to capture her essence in a cute and stylised way, which is different from what I usually do, so it's been a fun challenge. I'm not sure if it will be used in the game or not, but practice is practice, and I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills.

So, that's all for now, folks! I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my creative process and what I've been up to lately. I'll be sure to keep you updated on any new developments and share more of my work with you as I go along. Please, PLEASE join the discord if you want more frequent updates and to chat with me directly. I'm always happy to hear your feedback and suggestions, so don't be shy!

Until next time, stay awesome,

LoafyLemon out!
