Now that we’ve finished making the fields, I start to think about what else we’re missing... a scarecrow.
It is an indispensable item for any field and a countermeasure to those loathsome vermins who feast on our precious crops.
We’ll fool them into thinking that there’s still someone here!

Just now, a crow-like bird flew down and looked as if it was making fun of me.
It almost looked like it was sneering, actually.
“What’s with you? Shoo, shoo!!!”
I lost my temper.
Let’s see if you can still look down on me after you bird-brains get spooked out by the super-realistic, super-mobile, high-class scarecrow that I’m going to make!!!

I grabbed a wooden pole nearby, bound it with some ivy, and put some clothes on it...
“It’s done!”
I present to you, a life-sized and high-class scarecrow, made by yours truly.
We’ve been through so many hardships with our damaged harvests, so it’s about time you make your debut.
Scare away all those crows with your might!
Oh, that reminds me...
I should give you a name.
Since you’re a scarecrow, hmm...
We’ll go with Kakashi!
Something straightforward should be fine.
Nice to meet you, Kakashi.

Scarecrows are 案山子 in Japanese, read as...you might have guessed it already, "Kakashi."
There are seven other bonus chapters like this in the first volume, then one chapter from the second volume onwards. Not all the bonus chapters aren't this short, in fact, this and one other side-story from the first volume are the only ones divided into smaller bits. Since they're relatively fewer in number, I'll only be posting one every few weeks. :)
