Buran bonus content!
Added 2024-09-20 12:08:31 +0000 UTCSuper informal, unscripted, but a bit of fun to make sure you guys can all see the footage Artem filmed at Speyer.
As I state at the end of this video, I'm going to put the Boeing 747 video on hold and do a video on the SAAB Viggen and it's flight computer next. I just couldn't make the 747 video interesting - I'll come back to it in a few months (this is why creators tend not to release schedules - something seems interesting but when you start detailed research it often turns out to be the contrary).
Following that, I am working on an extremely ambitions (for me) video to be released sometime in December. It will be a little different to my usual subjects but will still be an approximately hour long deep dive into a technical aerospace + computing related topic. I'm keeping it a secret for now but there will be a clue to what it is in the Viggen video.

Yeah they used cryogenic oxygen, feeding from a common tank (the fuel was just kerosene though). Seems absolutely absurd to me!

2024-10-14 15:12:37 +0000 UTCNice video! Are you sure maneuvering thrusters used cryogenic propellants? Hard to believe. Afterburning engines are certainly the bottom two. You can tell by actuators that change the nozzle geometry (not thrust vectoring). Small helicopter is Mi-2. Large silver colored plane looks like Ju-52 but might be wrong. Looking forward to the Viggen video!

2024-09-20 13:48:44 +0000 UTCI feel like we need to have a pool on what it could be. No, you are not allowed to enter, that would be cheating.

2024-09-20 12:46:17 +0000 UTCYou have it pretty much spot on. My best videos are either those on something ‘a bit sketchy’ or a specific aspect of something successful. I originally intended it to be a video covering all the specially modified 747s (shuttle carrier vehicle, SOFIA, Cosmic girl etc). But that was too ‘high level’. The super secret video planned for December will basically be the ‘spiritual alternative’ to a 747 video.

2024-09-20 12:37:41 +0000 UTCI kind of wonder if part of the issue with the 747 is it was too successful. lol Your best videos I think tend to be on things that didn't really work out for one reason or another. British aerospace, Buran, or Polari. (Although I suppose in that case it is a good thing they never took off 😉.) Either that or something quirky that you can do a significant deep dive on and pull out some of your background and knowledge to give other people a better understanding and/or appreciation for. In comparison the 747 is kind of boring. Brilliant engineering sure, but also a very well covered topic because it was so successful, and so hard to give it your own A-Ok touch, because so much of it has already been covered. Also, I think you are a bit like me, in that you don't want to do the same thing that everyone else has already done to death and basically copying from someone else's video on the same topic.
