I need your help
Added 2025-01-12 03:15:38 +0000 UTCHey everyone, a few days ago, Book 5 of Tree was released on Amazon. All previous installments of the series reached rank 300 in the store, held there for a few days, and then fell. This pattern has been pretty consistent with each release.
However, book 5 was different. Something unknown seems to have gone wrong. Whether it was the series falling out of the algorithm, the pre-order emails not going out, or something else, the book is doing badly. It hit rank 900 ish for a single day before falling to rank 2k.
To put it in financial terms, my launch week earnings from Amazon have basically halved compared to previous launches. To say this hasn't hurt my motivation would be a lie. It's depressing. I thought there would be a slower decline in interest, and I would see these numbers around book 10, not 5. And considering I plan for this series to be over a thousand chapters long, this is a bad spot to be in.
You guys, as my patreons, already support the creation of Tree. I cannot be thankful enough and don't fear the series will continue until its natural conclusion, which is far in the future. But for now, I'm trying to do what I can to save the series on Amazon, so I'm here to humbly request a download, purchase, review, or anything else! They all help the series get back into the algorithm.

2025-01-12 08:24:11 +0000 UTCJust an observation, but I didn't notice that it had come out yet, as there was no notice on the release day on patreon and there wasn't a RR chapter dedicated to the announcement like book 3. I also think the point about low January sales might be valid. Another thing: RR fiction description needs to be updated with the new book release.

2025-01-12 08:08:45 +0000 UTCI should've been more specific. Most people will write a review for the first couple books and that's it. I do that myself. As well as most of the people I've asked. Let's say you get into a series when there's already 10 books. Then you read all 10 want to leave a review. Are you going to leave a review on book 1 or 10 different reviews for your one reading experience. Most people won't take the time to do that.

2025-01-12 07:39:39 +0000 UTCYeah, me too. I mean isn't that in itself kind of an argument as to why? Or are you saying number of ratings goes down while number of readers stays constant. If that's the case I'm with you and it's a worse metric (not completely useless, but far worse). Otherwise, well it annoying for the side of the author (and fans) but a useful metric. Basically: With each book you're going to lose some people. How quickly it's going down may say something about the future of the series. Which is why it's so weird and bad this one had a bad start. And at the same time: Number of reviews/number of readers might show something about how enthusiastic and engaged people were with the book, that they are "going through the extra effort and reviewing" which is something they wouldn't need to just to consume a good product. That in itself is valuable information that can predict long term performance too

It's mostly because readers don't write 14 reviews for the same series. Just the first one or two books. It's not something Amazon should use to measure success.

I see people talking about it on TikTok and Reddit a bunch now! People keep recommending this series:) January is the absolute worst time for the book to drop though, not that it can be helped. Everyone’s spent their money and trying to save. It’s a trend seen in retail, restaurants and nearly all other industries.. except gyms unfortunately. So you shouldn’t feel so bad!
