Father knows best has always been my favorite episode of season 1, it's low-key but it holds a lot of paternal weight throughout with Dex coming to terms with having a bio dad that had been alive and well during his life and how his foster dad hid that from him, Angel Batista quoting that his father wanted him to be an honest man which is why he went against James in the investigation, and Rita dealing with her issues with the father of her children, all variations of "fathers knowing best." When watching this episode as a teen I never understood why Deb was so mad at Dexter for being curious about where he came from but now that I'm an adult I can see that she was scared and betrayed by Dexter bc she is his only family, it's all they have ever known, like who is this mf, and why does he matter now, especially if he knew you existed all this time, nah pack it up and let's fuck off, I get that now. Again I'm always here for Cap Maria and James one on one scenes, they are always so organic, they hold each other accountable, and obviously seen the worst and best of each other, but they don't judge it's a real kinship there that I always enjoy seeing. Even though Dexter didn't do it and we didn't get the plastic, blood slide collecting kill, we got a bad guy down, Bayard, by sergeant Doakes, the only character who thinks Dex is off seemed to have a bit in common with him this episode and Bayard deserved it. And Deb is lucky to have Rudy as a bf, he stay hustling, Ice Truck driver, Doctor, Cable man...serial killer, oh NVM Debs (India pointed out the killer before he even popped upπ€£π§) I could only watch 30 minutes of your reaction due to buffering so I just streamed on Hulu for the rest, I'll go back and watch the rest another time but from what I saw great reaction as usual, I'm glad you are enjoying the series so far!
