THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

Happy birthday G-Bunni (Mar 9)

Comments

When you said you felt it in your armpits, I understood that deep in my soul.

Kelsey Roberts

Someone already noted the Schwartz wrote for both Hunchback and Prince of Egypt. The similarities you’re hearing are Bells of Notre Dame/Hell Fire and Let My People Go. They blend well together - just as Out There blends well with Go the Distance from Hercules

Patrick O'Mara

Thank you🙇🏻Happy Birthday to you too🥳 🎂🎈

G Bunni

Also, I meant to tell you happy belated birthday dear.😁 Fellow Pisces here. Mine was March 10th

Elizuki

Listen I burst into tears when Kemi made the observation about his mother shouting the same thing at the church steps! It was an observation that I missed.

Elizuki

I thought I was the only one

Elizuki

This reaction brought me to tears several times. Let me tell you. This is my favorite animated Disney film and it has been since I was a little girl. I was still in elementary school when it came out. The songs are absolutely incredible.

Elizuki

Wonderful reaction! Such a moving movie with such dark and heartbreaking themes. The music is breathtaking…just phenomenal. Out There gives me chills every time

Sam-I-Am

Def one of my faves. Tony Jay is a legend

I wasn’t sure which version this was til I played it. I remember seeing it in the theaters. I was a crying mess. The voice cast is pretty well known. Quasimodo was by Tom Hulce. Frodo was Tony Jay ( the song he sang at the fireplace was called Hellfire. I consider it one of the best villain songs next to Be Prepared and Poor Unfortunate Souls) Pheobus was Kevin Kline and Esmeralda may be someone you know. Demi Moore. As far as Disney films go i consider it in the top 5. As far as accuracy to the work.. well the book and this version are very different. I try to remember that. Disney mostly has happy endings. If you want another good version, try the one w Sor Anthony Hopkins as Quasimodo. The story itself is amazing and perfect if tragic. Reminds me a great deal of Phantom of the Opera but that’s me. Love your reaction here. Ohh and if you want some good Disney Covers, try Peter Hollens.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY HUNNI

Sincerely, K.S.O.

KSO, this is such a beautiful story, soundtrack and movie. I'm so glad you got the chance to react to it. I'm about to get some pecan pie with some tea, and enjoy ~

Z.A.C.H

Such a moving animation. My heart swells every time I watch🥹❤️!

Brittany Riley

When the hyenas attack Scar at the end of the Lion King...😨😂

Verity

I was terrified of giant Ursula at the end of The Little Mermaid 🐙😅 couldn't even finish the movie until I was like 7 years old💀🤭

G Bunni

Oh that was so good! I just knew you would like the music, especially that intro. Your beauty shines from the inside out Kemi and i love your scarf in this:) Thank you for the special birthday wishes🙋🏻🙏🏻🐇

G Bunni

This movie kind of scared me as a kid, but I watched it again in high school and it became one of my favorite Disney movies.

Tina

Best villain song, hands down!

Jessi

Of all the Disney films, this is my favourite soundtrack. The music is so beautiful, as well as the visuals and message. The dark tone and implications were kind of lost on me as a kid, but I appreciate them so much more as an adult!

Verity

Thank you my dear

Sincerely, K.S.O.

Wow. I love it when I can recognize the musical connection

Sincerely, K.S.O.

Love that part Sanctuary!!!!!!

Sincerely, K.S.O.

Yes! O that part is my favorite tooooo. Omg. I got goosebumps and immediately felt it

Sincerely, K.S.O.

Good choice, G, Bunni. Your birthday and we get a present. Thanks.

Jim Schmitz

Frollo is such a scary Disney villain because there are actual people just like him. Tom Hulce who is Quasi's voice, including the singing, played Mozart in Amadeus!

Tina

Btw, the cast album of the stage show in my opinion is superior to the film version. The choir is fuller and the orchestra is immaculate. But that's just my opinion. Listen to the "Esmeralda" (Act 1 closer) track from that album -- it's like opening the gates of Heaven.

Mike Dispo

You gave an incredible reaction to a powerful movie! The music definitely strikes an emotional cord. My favorite part is Quasimodo shouting "Sanctuary!" after saving Esmeralda. Thank you for this Kemi!

Ethan

The lyrics were written by the composer of the songs in The Prince of Egypt (Stephen Schwartz). They definitely cut deep to your core when you watch it. And Alan Menken's choral-based music is most effective in the climax when Quasimodo rescues Esmeralda and my favorite of any Disney film. Their other collaboration is Pocahontas.

Mike Dispo

Beautiful reaction and you always look stylish and gorgeous, Kemi.
