I just watched your reaction to the show, Kemi. I will apologize here if this comment is long but…as silly as this sounds this show Phantom of the Opera changed my life in many ways and was very formative in who I am now. My mother had seen the show in San Francisco. She gave me a copy of the soundtrack ( Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman) By the time I watched the show for the first time I had the songs memorized lol. I was roughly 10 or so when I saw it in San Francisco. I didnt quite understand why the voices were different then the ones on the soundtrack lol. I remember Franc D’Ambrosio was the Phantom and Lisa Vroman was Christine. I connected with this story so much. At that point in time I had been picked on..and a lot..not just for my weight but also because I was born with a disability. (Have minimal use of my right hand) So when I saw the core of the story, I lost it. I completely lost it. My mother and Grandmother had to help me out of the theater when it was over because I was crying so hard. That musical and everything about it became a big part of my life. (Now jumping ahead to 02) I was in NY to see a musical. Not many people liked it at all but I had a great time with it…I was able to go back stage and meet the lead. Michael Crawford. I remember just how nervous I was and trying to keep my calm. Smiling ear to ear, he was just calm and patient and the kindest person I met. Of course my mother was taking pictures though…her camera stalled at the moment so that combined with her telling him I was a big fan of his just made me feel that all empowering embarrassment by mom lol. Now…the story and all of that was told simply for this…thank you Kemi. I was going to mention Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford but when they came out and I saw the shock on your face…it was too perfect. You really are a blessing to us all.
