The Empire did nothing "wrong" other than try to get rid of the Jedi and rebels. The stories show people prospered more under the Empire than the previous Republic, or the Republic AFTER Sidious and Vader died. So it's really weird that most people view them as evil. Evil for what? Not giving up control and having a stable economy? Who cares as long as nobody is dying or starving? Taxes? Well that depends on where the taxes are going, but taxes are needed for school, healthcare, etc etc, and as I already mentioned, people were prospering, so the taxes were not bad for the normal citizens. It only upset the greedy Trade Federation who couldn't skim off the top anymore and were betrayed by Sidious. People act like the Empire created a second Holocaust, and that didn't happen. I also don't consider blowing up a planet full of rebels who won't surrender to be evil, but that's just me. More like just wiping out fanatical terrorists like ISIS, but somehow in this world people view ISIS as the good guys. Interesting stuff when you really think about it and read the books to get more knowledge.
